Nancy Pelosi: Democrats should skip the convention

While it won't happen, a democratic convention the size and scope of what they will have is of little use to democrats. The same could be said of any time a sitting potus is running for re-election. However, through it all there is an official nominating process, but that could still be done without all of the hoopla. I wonder if the sitting potus convention is just a way of equalizing the convention of the challenging party? In a certain way she is correct, as it does not establish much. It would be an odd gamble to tone it way down and do more local campaigning rather than a national snore fest.

What really strikes me is, Pelosi telling all her constituents to go campaign rather than go to the convention. Now you would think that she would want them there to cheer all of Obama's two accomplishments and him being the first black president, this is a time of celebration. But here you have Perlosi saying stay away, translated; go campaign and don't be seen with the president and go save your own job, we need to keep the seats we have.

It never changes. Politics has always been about slamming your opponent on the mat. The only thing that changes is the topics at hand. Actually, while people are complaining about how there are new lows in all of it, go back 100+ years and look at some of the brilliance of the campaign attacks of the time. without the 30 video creep clips, they had to be much more clever and do it all by words that were written and there were gems. Adams is a hideous hermaphroditical character with neither the force and firmness of a man, nor the gentleness and sensibility of a woman.”

“Jefferson is the son of a half-breed Indian squaw raised on hoe-cakes.”

Look for political attack ads throughout the history of POTUS and other political elections in the U.S. and you will find countless mind numbing attacks on character. The good old days of clean honest elections are only a myth told by elders of each party who feels that their party rose above it all. Hardly the case as each party has added immensely to the porta jon known as political attacks then and now. What had been done with words is now done by video, but other than that, nothing has changed except the candidates running.

The "never before" crowd just thinks their times are the most important or dire.

The Democrat party is falling apart. They know what a dismal failure their majority in Government has been. GDP flat 2% or below, unemployment weekly claims up to 380,000+. How much more Jimmy Carter malaise can we take? The Democrats couldn't get the economy up and running in the late 1970's and they have shown over the last 4 years they still can't do it today. If your better off today then 4 years ago, then vote for Obama and the Democrats. If NOT vote then out of office in November.

Pelosi for once in her life is correct!

Just... WOW!

To date has Obama run a single add that was not an attack? One? The fact is the guy CAN'T run on his record because his record SUCKS. His shining accomplishment is Obamacare and, like, 60% of America opposes it! So I guess if personal insults and attacks aren't your thing, you might want to leave the TV off for the next 3-4 months because that is ALL the Democrats have left.

"But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it." Unfortunately, this is code for, "I sold out to the insurance lobby!"

It WOULD be interesting to see a repub admin try to accomplish anything in the Age of the Filibuster.

All of this nonsense aboit Obama not accomplishing anything is just that. Nonsense.

The Republicans need 19 seats in the House and 13 in the Senate and that just won't happen. Judging by the Democrats progress on the economy, they just may get it.

Its amazing.. this dingbat Botoxed idgit is telling her lemmings to "not go "....thats priceless...
I wonder what its like to be a liberal... its gotta be tough to have no backbone and try to stand..

She's just getting out ahead of the curve. She knows they're not going anyway. Might as well put the best spin on it. What better spin then it was all her idea?

Guess who's not coming to the Republican convention? George W. Bush! Wonder what that's all about. :lamo
Why provide Democrats with yet another "Blame Bush" for their own massive failures opportunity?

I really don't think they're falling apart. I think they know Obama's a winner, the Democratic Party wants to do everything in its power to win a majority in both houses...something that is very far from a sure thing. Gads. Just the thought.

My God! Not only is it not a "sure thing," it's not even theorized by any respected political analyst! Not for Obama.....and not for Democratic majorities in Congress. Can we say UNINFORMED?????

And here you are defending Obama and Democrat's again! And you say you're a conservative? It appears that no one on this forum has called you out of for your fickleness. Well let me tell, Glideslope is here to hold you and every other fence-sitting liberal wannabe accountable for your political sins.
