Obama admits failure to change Washington

"Washington feels as broken as it did four years ago," Mr Obama said in an interview with CBS television, betraying the fact that Congress is more polarised than ever between rival Republicans and Democrats.
The past three-and-a-half years have been marked by blanket Republican opposition to Democratic initiatives as Mr Obama's opponents adopt a policy that any compromise that helps the president must be snuffed out at all cost.
Democrats, in turn, have refused to budge on protecting large social programs and insist that the wealthiest Americans should pay more tax if the poorest are to lose some of their state benefits.
Having struggled to break out of the stalemate, Mr Obama said the fact that he hadn't "been able to change the atmosphere here in Washington to reflect the decency and common sense of ordinary people" frustrated him most.

This is the first time, in a long time that a Politician has made an honest statement.

I'm glad that he admitted failure. I'm laughing though because it's kind of like a "humblebrag" or the perfect answer to the job interview question, "What is your greatest weakness?"

Not sure whats worse, that is considered a big revelation of failure or that this man is so narcissistic that he actually thought he could single handedly do it.

I would like to ask some of his more none-goose stepping supporters, what steps did he take to actually try to change it? Was his administration more political than his predecessors?

He actually did a lot of compromising that pissed much of his constituency off, particularly on healthcare.

Nope, assuming you're referring to Obamacare and the Obama Tax Cuts (he extended them, they're his now). He made these concessions to bring moderate Democrats in, not Republicans.

No, he was definitely compromising with the Republicans as well...

Obamacare did not get ONE Republican vote. Not one, further he had to buy off some of his own to get it passed. I don't call this working with Republicans.

Yeah because all his hope and change and transparency BS, was just that BS. Further Obama is not admitting failure, he is blaming blanket Republican opposition. Translated vote me in again and give me another democrat congress so I can once again really drive the last nail in this countries coffin.

That's the point. He tried bipartisanship and it didn't work...
