Nonprofit Voter Participation Center sends election registration docs to dogs, dead people

(AP) OLYMPIA, Wash. - The voter registration form arrived in the mail last month with some key information already filled in: Rosie Charlston's name was complete, as was her Seattle address.

Problem is, Rosie was a black lab who died in 1998.

A group called the Voter Participation Center has touted the distribution of some 5 million registration forms in recent weeks, targeting Democratic-leaning voting blocs such as unmarried women, African-Americans, Latinos and young adults.

This is the main reason we need voter ID, in order to register and to vote both in person and absentee. Just the idea that a valid legal voter can have his/her vote CANCELED OUT by jackasses voting for their dogs or dead people is absolutely horrendous. Valid legal voters have a right to have their votes actually count toward what and who they believe in.

Excellent article.

The problem is Dems don't care. They enjoy playing political games. It's their sense of self because they don't have any other.

Republicans don't care about the integrity of the voting process, they just want to disenfranchise people who vote Democrat. This is a fun game.

P.S. Merely receiving a voter registration form does not mean you can cast a fraudulent vote in your dogs name. Have you people ever even voted before?

That talking point is getting really old and worn out. If that were really true, Democrats would stop requiring people to have an ID to register to vote, or produce an ID to apply for welfare.

Y'all really gonna have to come up with a better excuse than the usual, "Republicans hate minorities", crapola.

Oh I'm sorry. From the previous posters it looked like we were playing the "decide what the other side believes" game. How come you didn't apply this whine of yours to the other guys who are doing the same thing? Oh wait, it's because they're spouting nonsense you actually believe about Democrats.

When did you start believing that the US Constitution is garbage and republicans should be exterminated Deuce?

I somewhat understand why people have a bit of an issue with the animals-getting-mail . . . but it's not like they're going to fill out an application and register. . . and go vote.

It's just part of our society; we care for our pets - take them to the dr - give them normal names - of course every now and then one of them is going to show up on a stupid mailing list  So do kids.

Sure have. I live in an mail in only voting area. My Dad passed away in 2008 and I still get ballots with his name on them.

Voter ID would apply to BOTH sides, but you only hear one side objecting. Wonder why?

It's too easy to fill it out and request an absentee ballot, fill out the ballot and mail it.

Until voter id is instituted, use them.
