Biden: "It's A Depression For Millions And Millions Of Americans"

Biden : Millions and millions are in depression - YouTube

Vice President Joe Biden identified with the struggles of ordinary American in an Iowa campaign speech today.

"The unemployed are really in trouble," Biden said in a campaign stop in Dubuque.

"My grandpop used to say — from Scranton — he said, Joey, the guy in Dunmore, the next town over, when the guy in Dunmore is out of work it's an economic slowdown. When your brother in law is out of work it's a recession. When you're out of work it's a depression. It's a depression for millions and millions of Americans."

Biden then launched into a critique of Mitt Romney's record and outsourcing, saying he believes that the American worker is part of the problem.

Seems like the appropriate message strategy for the Obama Campaign

Over 300million people in America.

Unemployment of 1% would be at least 3million people.

Pretty easy claim to make. There should be a law against exaggeration like that.

It happens to be the truth for millions that are out of work, cant find employment, under employed like partime supermarket or walmart and people that have lost their homes because of it....No right minded person can deny that.

There should be a law against hyper partisan callous individuals too

I'm not really for political parties, but sure, Biden would be at the front of that list.

He made a career of making stupid sounding, but very sincere commentary in front of the media.

What was the old Reagan line? A Recession is when your neighbor loses his job. A Depression is when you lose your job. And a Recovery is when Barack Obama loses his job.

but but but obama said the public sector is doing fine,so which is it?????????????????????

I keep having this image in my mind of Biden, standing in front of a mirror like De Niro in Taxi Driver, rehearsing what he's going to say to Obama the next time they meet for lunch.

You gotta wonder how happy the Obama campaign was to see Biden undercut their "the economy is doing just fine" narrative.

anywho, it's already a campaign ad.

...Maybe Joe Biden is just the most brilliant GOP double-agent of all time?

I love Joe Biden !! He tells it like it is ...he is has never been about money or power ,he just is a patriotic American who wants what is best for america! We need more people in government like Joe!

Agreed. Joe Biden is a gift that keeps on giving. I can't wait for him to declare that Obama "is literally like Jesus in his ability to save America" during the Debates :D

A GREAT campaign strategy. Obama took a 6% unemployment rate and turned it into at least 15% in just 3.5 years!

Wow Obama did all that on his own? I guess Republicans were just perfect little angels to you as well right? No blame goes to anyone but Obama huh?

Interesting rhetoric, anymore hackery you would like to demonstrate about you?

The OP mentioned they thought it would be a GREAT issue to campaign on. Pointing out the folly of running on such a campaign is 'hackery'? Oh...wait...I forget...he's YOUR guy. And...of course...YOUR response ISNT driven by mindless partisanship? :lamo

Guess he isnt going to pay them bills either...you know...take care of people because they took care of them...

Black unemployment -- those actively seeking work but unable to find it -- rose to 14.1 percent from 13.6 percent in January. Latino workers also saw their jobless rate climb slightly to 10.7 percent in February from 10.5 percent the month before.

"What's unusual is that last month's numbers were a surprisingly large dip that we haven't had any explanation for," Algernon Austin, a sociologist who studies
One problem with unemployment numbers is that they only indicate the proportion of people looking for work. Austin pointed to another measure called employment-to-population ratio -- the number of employed people in a population measured against the total number of people in that population -- and said that there has been some good news for black teenagers.

"For teens, it's a really important measure to look at it, because they often have an adult who can help take care of them," he explained. "So when the labor market isn't friendly, they often drop out of the labor force [and aren't counted in the unemployment numbers]."

After having stagnated at about 15 percent for months, the employment-to-population for black teens jumped to 17 percent in February."

Dream big, baby.

Ah yes, your partisan hackery knows no bounds. How is he MY guy again?

Oh yeah, I guess he is my guy considering I am not voting for him.

So like I said, it's all Obama's fault then and Republicans have been perfect little angels to you huh?

Yep, all Obama's fault cause he hates blacks right?

Yep all Obama's fault and none of it Republiacans. Any more hackery from you today? Looking forward to seeing you put your foot in your mouth again.

Yes...indeed... You mindless partisan hackery drives your posting. The thread is in regard to OBAMA. Yet you trip over yourself to defend him SURE he isn't 'your guy'. :lamo

Like it or not...he took over and it has gotten MUCH worse under his presidency. You don't run for the job to earn the opportunity to blame the last guy for your entire presidency. Those 98,000 people in California that are now still out of work and have now completely exhausted their unemployment benefits don't much care about excuses and likely are less inclined to be driven by mindless hack ideology.

Start a thread on Romney and you will see my response to him. Or better yet...read the ones already created.

Back for another beating I see.

If you bothered reading, I have made it quite clear why I'm not voting for Obama. While I am not voting for him, I do defend him from mindless partisan hackery comments, like from yourself, blaming him for everything under the sun.

Obama has faults and has made mistakes, but he is not the SOLE reason for unemployment. However, I'm sure your partisan hackery will try and say he is.

As for Romney, why would you even bring him up? I thought this was an OBAMA thread as you say. Try taking your own advice and stick to the subject instead of being a partisan hack.

Now, why don't you do some reading instead of getting another verbal beatdown like this one.

Nowhere did i say Obama was the 'sole' reason for unemployment. Like it or not...when you APPLY for the job of president you are RESPONSIBLE...which means you OWN the results. YOUR results...the ones you amassed over your 3.5 years to date. And stop it...you are making me giggle. You 'arent voting for him'... :lamo

When it suits republicans they blame the economy on Obama. As If he is the reason the economy failed and continues to fail. On the flip side of that coin they also like to say that government doesn't create jobs, that only the rich private sector creates jobs... So please, could a conservative get on here and tell me which side of that coin they would like to use..

Just proof Joe tells it like it is! Romney isn't exactly the smoothest political talker either ...shall we discuss the stupid stuff mitt has said? I would say mitt far exceeds Joe in the gaffe contest!

I could care less if you believe me or not, I have made my reasons clear for why I am not voting for Obama. I need neither your approval or belief. You mean less to me than sewage.

The fact of the matter is that OBama is not the sole reason and yes, you are in fact putting complete blame on him by saying they are HIS results. They are not. Sorry but blaming everything on Obama is not only idiotic by pointless as well. Please continue your partisan hackery comments though, they are quite amusing.
