So much for the intimidation tactic... Guess now he's seeking to appeal to the base through fear? Combined with the creepy send-me-money-instead-of-wedding-gifts fundraiser... they worried about cash?

In a stunning admission, President Obama — who analysts had originally thought would be history's first $1 billion presidential candidate — told donors on Tuesday he will be outspent by Republicans in this year's election.

The president made the claim in an email trying to rally his own supporters to pony up more.

"I will be the first president in modern history to be outspent in his re-election campaign, if things continue as they have so far," Mr. Obama said in his plea. "I'm not just talking about the super PACs and anonymous outside groups — I'm talking about the Romney campaign itself."...

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — Presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney seems intent not only on proving that the U.S. is on its way to becoming a plutocracy — government by the wealthy — and is not doing anything to hide it.

At a “senior leadership conference” for hundreds of his top donors in Park City, Utah, this weekend, a comfortable, eminently accessible candidate reveled in the company of his fellow multi-millionaires, discussing policies that will benefit multi-millionaires before anyone else.

This was a real if-you’ve-got-it-flaunt-it kind of event that celebrated the pinnacle of the American dream — immense wealth and the power that comes with it.

The Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United, which allows unlimited campaign funding for Super PACs, will make it hard for a grassroots fundraising campaign to rival the coordinated wealth of our country’s billionaires, so that this privileged group can be assured of the low taxes and small government that keeps them in charge.

The court reinforced that ruling this week with its decision to strike down a state law that still imposed restraints, taking another step to dispel the illusion that our politicians are freely elected by an informed public. Instead, it provided support to those who believe our political leaders increasingly are bought and paid for by the wealthiest among us.

The only mystery left is why millions of middle-class Americans play along with this rule by the wealthy and cast their vote for the plutocrats........

.........In the meantime, make way for the plutocrats.

Romney may be the best president money can buy - MarketWatch

yeah, it's gonna be fun to watch all of ya'll who jumped through so many hoops to defend Obama's decision to run on private money in 2008 now try to turn out-raising Obama into a bad thing in 2012.

DEER VALLEY — Mitt Romney and some of the nation's best-known Republicans are holding a private retreat in Utah this weekend with the presumptive GOP presidential nominee's top donors and fundraisers.

The exclusive event is one of the perks for donors who have given at least $50,000 or raised a minimum of $250,000 for the Romney Victory Fund, which shares contributions with the Republican Party.

The more than 700 guests expected will hear from what's being billed as the GOP "Dream Team," a list that includes the party's 2008 nominee, Arizona Sen. John McCain, strategist Karl Rove, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

Besides panel discussions Friday and Saturday on banking, health care, Israel, innovation and the media, there's a barbecue at the Utah Olympic Park, a tea with Romney's wife, Ann, and Olympic ice skating gold-medalist Dorothy Hamill, and golf.

"This is about rewarding your big donors," University of Utah political science professor Matthew Burbank said. "There won't be any average Utahns there at all unless they're serving food or something."

You know, of all the flaming fools on this forum, there is only one poster on my "ignore" list. Whatever that was, I know I'm glad I didn't read it.

What was Obama in 2008 when his candidacy was funded by the mega banks and public unions he then helped bail out?

Cha cha cha.....

Same thing, but to a lesser extent. Most of Obama's contributions came from small donors. Almost all of Romney's money comes from megabuck billionaires and corporations.

Obama outspent Mcain in 2008, Romney will outspend Obama, who cares!
Seriuously if 1 guy has 0$ and the other guy has millions i'd say $ is a major factor. But lets be honest both sides will have insane amounts of cash there will be no problem getting their message out. Spending 900 million vs 1 billion will not change the outcome.

It will be interesting to see how it turns out. It's even possible that overspending could backfire on one or both candidates. After four months of endless commercials and robocalls, a lot of people might just say, "STFU already! I'm sick of hearing you blow your own horn and talk **** about the other guy."

and Obama is not? He will help the middle class and poor. Just sign up your gift registry and make his reelection the benifactor. Yep, President of the people.

Hollywood Returning to Obama Fold - WSJ.com
Actor George Clooney said Saturday that a fundraising dinner at his Los Angeles home on May 10 would raise $10 million for the president's re-election, the largest amount ever for a single Obama campaign event. If true, that would exceed the sum the Obama campaign raised from the entertainment industry in the 2008 presidential race.

Obama campaign officials said Sunday that Mr. Clooney's number may be inflated, but they concurred that the event, priced at $40,000 a person, is likely to be lucrative. And it may signal that Mr. Obama successfully mollified dismayed Hollywood executives when he personally called them in the wake of the January antipiracy decision.

Please, if youre going to employ a talking point, ensure that its an accurate one. The majority of his donors are from Large individual contributions. In addition he has a number of PACs and PAC contributors that push money outside the actual Presidential fund.

Obama has spent 5 trillion of other people's money within 4 years

Now he complains he's being "outspent" during his re-election campaign?

Businessmen such as these don't just throw money around. What Do They Want, in return???? :peace
I believe they want the nation to turn its face once again toward freedom and liberty. Our government has become tyrannical. It is time to take it back from the tyrants, reverse this course toward national suicide, and to unravel the massive bureaucratic state apparatus.

I am with them.

Obama lied about his campaign financing in 2008, raised and spent more than any other politician in history from many donors that were never identified, and you're complaining about Super PACS

Give them all the money and exposure they want, the more the Republican candidate speaks the better off we all are.

Coming from the same party that tried to put Sarah Palin in the VP position, go ahead and spend away I say.

Exposure is not always a good thing for them.
