GOP convention features 'Obama library' outhouse with painted-on bullet holes]W:80]

Re: GOP convention features 'Obama library' outhouse with painted-on bullet holes

Good think the GOP and conservative immediately condemned and no one attending took pictures or pointed and laughed.

I'm sure the condemned it and had it removed and apologized to the first lady.

They did do that, didn't they.

They do not have control over what everyone does. The GOP officials did the right thing by saying it was not part of the event, but a side show some other people brought up. They could not move it because it was up to the hotel manager to have that done.

Re: GOP convention features 'Obama library' outhouse with painted-on bullet holes

The side show is right in front of the hotel. Is it till there? If not, how long before the (the organizers) got it moved?:peace

Reading, it's fun.

Their convention was seemingly being hosted out of a hotel. Unless somehow the GOP had essentially rented out the entire hotel as their own playground for the period of time, they'd likely have no real power to make it go away. They could request the hotel to do it, but the Hotel would likely be reticent to force action on the part of one patron simply because another patron has issues with it when the act isn't actually against any rules or regulations that the person agreed to.

The state GOP does not own the hotel. To my understanding they did not rent out control of the entire Hotel and its premises during the convention. They don't have any direct power what so ever to have it "moved". Most likely it belongs to some idiot at the convention that is staying at the hotel. As such, unless it's violating some form of the hotel's policies in regards to the parking lot, there's no much the GOP party can do. They could attempt to raise a big stink about it which frankly would do nothing but give it more attention then it deserves, put the hotel in an uncomfortable situation, and even then possibly have nothing come from it.

Re: GOP convention features 'Obama library' outhouse with painted-on bullet holes

The Side Show is an actual part of the Circus! :doh :peace

Proof of that? Since the OP's article says the exact opposite. It's not officially part of the convention, and those running the convention have actually spoken against it.

Re: GOP convention features 'Obama library' outhouse with painted-on bullet holes

Bull Pucky, the GOP could have it moved in a heartbeat! Towed if the owner couldn't be found. Come on Ma'am, the Koch Bros are all powerfull! :peace

So basically your make believe, hyper partisan fueld, imaginary world view that you've concocted to insult the other side is so out of whack that you actually think that laws don't matter and the Koch Brothers are some kind of omniscient gods.

Well...sure, in that make believe world they could do those things. Sadly, the convention was held in reality.

I love you so much right now.

Re: GOP convention features 'Obama library' outhouse with painted-on bullet holes

I think the main reason that the GOP doesn't push the hotel to have it removed (because they most likely could), is that this would start a precedent that they would have to continually push to have offensive things removed near their conferences all up until the election. Opposition people to the GOP could then continually put up offensive things around their conferences and create this media circus again and again until election. This would be a great distraction and end up costing time and money for the GOP.

The best thing for the GOP to do is what they did. Condemn it and move on.

Exactly, this is much like Birther things and anything else. It deserves, at most, a passing condemnation and then basically ignore it. Idiots like this are like spoiled chlidren; they want attention, ANY kind of attention, and giving it to them is just playing into their hands. And just like idiots that do things for shock value, once it becomes clear that doing this kind of thing will get you attention then you have more and more idiots that want attention following suit.

Condemn it, don't associate with it, and move on. Spending your time attempting to round up dumbasses and stomp them out is just going to give birth to further and further dumbasses. Not to mention you run into issues inherently concerning a political party actively and even authoritatively monitoring and prohibiting the speech of their convention goers, which could cause all sorts of issues in and of itself.

Re: GOP convention features 'Obama library' outhouse with painted-on bullet holes

Bullcrap.

And Bullcrap.

So you have some kind of proof?

Because the OP clearly has a direct quote from the state GOP condemning it and I can tell you first hand from work experience at a hotel, people renting out part of the venue do not have unquestioned control of the entire premesis. So please, source your "bullcrap" or else the only thing that's bullcrap here is your statements.

For the same reason Obama apologized to Ann Romney a few weeks back.

So a person with loose, but noticable, ties to the Obama administratoin does something that becomes a national front page political story is equivilent to some unknown loon on a state convention where Mitt Romney wasn't even present causing a back page mostly localized story are basically the exact same thing.

Wow. Slow clapping for that brilliant logic.

Re: GOP convention features 'Obama library' outhouse with painted-on bullet holes

Bullcrap. And Bullcrap.
Somewhat correct on the first bullcrap, completely wrong on the second bullcrap.

“Some of that stuff is not real good taste. We do have a president of the United States, and we have to honor that.”
- Will Deschamps, Montana GOP Chairman

Not exactly an apology, but then he doesn't need to apologize. He didn't make the outhouse. Did Nancy Pelosi apologize for the Sarah Palin mannequin that was lynched in effigy? It hung there for several weeks, as I recall. I don't remember any liberal outrage over that.

Second bullcrap: I work in hotels. One hotel guest can't have the belongings of another hotel guest moved or removed. Every guest has equal rights.

For the same reason Obama apologized to Ann Romney a few weeks back.
You should try keeping current on current events.
Obama apologized? I should also try keeping track of current events, I guess.
When? Where? Cite?

False comparison. This is a GOP event and people paraded by laughing and hoopin' up. The good ol' boys had a gay ol' time making fun of the black man in the White House.
Many, many idiots paraded by this very public, graphic piece of rage pornography directed at POTUS. This is what the GOP has become. White trash bigots ruled by billionaires. No class voting for the upper class.
“Rage pornography”. Wow. Hollyweird made two movies about assassinating President Bush, while he was still in office. Was that “rage pornography” too?

And speaking of bigots, you should know that not every criticism leveled at Obama is based on race.
Thanks for letting the “white trash” know what bigots we are, though.

I'm of the opinion that this sort of crap (the outhouse, not necessarily your hyperbole) does little to advance reasonable discourse in any way. Like the Palin execution effigy and the “Kill Bush” movie (merchandise still available online), the outhouse only serves to piss people off, and that isn't helpful.

Re: GOP convention features 'Obama library' outhouse with painted-on bullet holes

They do not have control over what everyone does. The GOP officials did the right thing by saying it was not part of the event,

"not part of the event" = it wasn't me who painted nigger on the black man's barn. I just took pictures of it with my cell phone and sent them to my friends.

"not part of the event" is how they distance themselves from the act but not the racist birthers.

They could not move it because it was up to the hotel manager to have that done.

Bullcrap.

FALSE.

Here's what the GOP organizers should have done: #1 "Hello, private security, I need something despicable and distasteful removed immediately. I don't care if it's on hotel property, we need to do the right thing here and get rid of this trash. Send five of your biggest guys over and tear it down. If the hotel complains, have them call me." -- #2 "Hello, local news station, I need to issue a statement condemning this horrible piece of garage outside our event. We have sent private security to tear it down immediately and we would like to tell the cowards who first put it up, that you are not welcome in our party. We don't need you."

See how simple things are when you have integrity and a spine.

Re: GOP convention features 'Obama library' outhouse with painted-on bullet holes

GJFlash, extremist Dems are no better than racist GOPs.

Thanks, we already knew that. However, that's not the topic of the thread. Please make an effort to stay on topic.

By the way, didn't your mama teach you that two wrongs don't make a right?

Hazlnut's solution? Break the law.

Man, could we like...pay you to run campaigns for the Democrats? It'd be a treasure trove of stupid acts repeated again and again to play off of if that happened.

Yes, she did. She also taught me that hypocrites are God's gift to comedy. She was right.

As for the "bullet-riddled outhouse", I don't see one bullet hole. Not a single one.

Yes they did distance themselves from the act by condemning it. What else do you want them to do? Kick people out of the GOP?

Okay. What then when the person who put it there sues the GOP? It is not there responsibility or right to move it, it is the hotel's. If they hotel did not want to move it then the GOP knows to never hold a convention there again. Simple.

Re: GOP convention features 'Obama library' outhouse with painted-on bullet holes

I was actually speaking of circus's, but you may be to young to remember the small traveling one ring circus' of my youth. Patched tent's & costumes, with the sideshow outside of the main tent.
If they use the term sideshow, that's what it implies to us geezers. Part & parcel of the whole shebang. :2wave: :peace

Proof of that? Since the OP's article says the exact opposite. It's not officially part of the convention, and those running the convention have actually spoken against it.

Yeah, because taking decisive and bold action is a real turn off to voters.

BTW - what law is broken? Would the hotel management file a complaint? "These good Samaritans carried a piece of racists offense crap off our property."

FAIL.

Better luck next time.

Re: GOP convention features 'Obama library' outhouse with painted-on bullet holes

Yes, she did. She also taught me that hypocrites are God's gift to comedy. She was right.

As for the "bullet-riddled outhouse", I don't see one bullet hole. Not a single one.

Good Samaritans taking actions to remove an offensive piece of racist crap is not what most normal people would call "a wrong".

So, another FAIL.

See, you people love this stuff. You love the racists and bigots who continue to fan the flames of your own ignorant base. You do all kinds of summersaults to defend the Palins and Allen Wests of this word--and the Tea Baggies who put this crap up. You get to sit at home and giggle because you so desperately want to throw the black man out of the White House.

Not one DP "conservative" has said the word sickening, disgraceful, to describe this act. You all immediately when to your pathetic little list of bad acts by the far-left. That is so spineless. You can't even condemn the evil racist element in your own ranks.

I'll say one thing for the assholes who put up the outhouse, at least they have the balls to own their racism. The majority of the far-right cries like a bitch when you call them out on their bigoted, homophobic, and xenophobic actions and words.

The RIGTH thing to do.... notice the word RIGHT, not another WRONG.... would be to immediately remove the outhouse. And ban the people who put it up from the event.

But the GOP organizers were afraid of turning off the extreme element in their base. It's like you have to embrace your own cousin, have him over for Thanksgiving, even thought he's a sick child molester--because, God forbid you upset grandma; she loves that sick boy.

The law being broken is you are handling another person's personal property without their permission. While the display is in poor taste, it is protected by the first amendment. If the hotel doesn't mind it being there, you have no right to handle it without the person's permission.

In addition, you are giving the display more attention because of what you would be doing and giving more ammunition for the GOP to cry "see look at the left and how they don't like freedom of speech".

The best way to handle it, is not give it any more attention than it already has and ignore it.

This is idiotic. It's also rather shameful.

Ah, I see. Apparently "Idiotic" and "Shameful" are not on the "Hazlnut approved list of very derogatory words that are appropriate to use to not be called a racist"

Also should note that right after that I didn't list things the left did...rather, I actually argued against people trying to throw accusations at the left. And my second post in the thread was railing against someone for doing just what you said, posting that "liberals do it too".

But nice stereotyping through your bigoted prejudices.

Yeah, because taking decisive and bold action is a real turn off to voters.

Yeah, embroiling a campaign into an issue of conspiracy to commit a crime is definitely great press.

BTW - what law is broken? Would the hotel management file a complaint? "These good Samaritans carried a piece of racists offense crap off our property."

Theft for your private security individuals as they take the thing away.

Malicious destruction of property against your private security individuals as another.

Potentially tresspassing or other type of laws if the Hotel wanted to file a complaint. Why would they file a complaint? Because they could potentially get sued to kingdom come by the things owner.

Criminal Conspiracy on your part.

Oh, and that doesn't even go into the various variables...such as if the guy or other people are there as your people try to take it and your private security lays a single hand on anyone resulting in potential assault charges.

Seriously, you should think for three seconds before decrying "Fail". I don't know what fantasy world you're imaging here, but "tearing down" other peoples property is illegal.

Re: GOP convention features 'Obama library' outhouse with painted-on bullet holes

.....how is it racist??

It's depicting a minority as backwoods trashy, and "let's take some shots at the black guy like the good ol' boys used to".

It's people thinking they can cross the line (you lie!) because it's only a black guy -- someone they see as less than.

It's people not intelligent enough to debate policy, so they attack with vicious and vile acts demeaning a person of color.

As studies have show the conservative mindset is less intelligent and tending toward prejudice. They are motivated by fear. Fear of the other, the gay, the foreigner.

Re: GOP convention features 'Obama library' outhouse with painted-on bullet holes

Theft for your private security individuals as they take the thing away.

You completely don't understand how this would have/should have gone down.

Who is going to call the police? The racists? Not unless they want to risk having some black or latino police officers show up. Cops hate assholes like that. They hate wasting time filing a report over a misplaced piece of racist garbage.

Who is going to complain? The hotel? Not unless they want to be known as the racist friendly joint.

If the racists, ignorant teabags ever complained or made a stink, who would care? Remember, it's their own side tossing them out, saying: "You went too far, we don't need you."

Think! -- The hotel would claim the racists were asked to leave and were therefore trespassing. It's simple. Send some hotel security with the private security. Done. You're asked to leave and then when you don't, you're trespassing. You have no clue how these things work. When event holders and staff want to get rid of someone causing a disturbance, it's pretty easy. They say, "you need to leave." If they don't, security can physically toss them out.

Malicious destruction of property against your private security individuals as another.

Cops wouldn't care. -- If it were a group of Dems, may be someone would make a stink. But if it was GOP security throwing the trash off the property, no one is going to say anything--That would be like complaining that the WBC was tossed off the property.

Potentially tresspassing or other type of laws if the Hotel wanted to file a complaint. Why would they file a complaint? Because they could potentially get sued to kingdom come by the things owner.

The hotel would be glad to have the racists piece of trash thrown off their property, they might even take credit for it. "Look how WE handled this." They don't want to be associated with extremists.

Are you really this clueless about how conventions and event security work and function?

Criminal Conspiracy on your part.

Good God, it's wanna-be Perry Mason.

You don't even know what those terms mean. Quick, Z, go google it and post a reply...:roll:

Just stop, you're embarrassing yourself.

Oh, and that doesn't even go into the various variables...such as if the guy or other people are there as your people try to take it and your private security lays a single hand on anyone resulting in potential assault charges.

Cops wouldn't care. And the racists wouldn't dare press charges if their own side took action against them. A clear message would be sent, DON'T CROSS THE LINE. The racists would leave with their tail between their legs.

Seriously, you should think for three seconds before decrying "Fail". I don't know what fantasy world you're imaging here, but "tearing down" other peoples property is illegal.

Re: GOP convention features 'Obama library' outhouse with painted-on bullet holes

I was told that this type of stuff is "freedom of speech" by the liberals. So I'll not dispute their view. :lamo

Which 'liberals' were those?

Re: GOP convention features 'Obama library' outhouse with painted-on bullet holes

Hilarious irony

A liberal whining that other people should "stay classy"

And an 'undisclosed' (come on, show some guts!) coming up with a 'but, but....the LIBERALS!'

Not ironic, just predictable.

Re: GOP convention features 'Obama library' outhouse with painted-on bullet holes

As a FAIR and BALANCED Independent, I am appalled by the lack of class the conservatives are showing incontrast to the classiness ALL LIBERALS demonstrated during the Bush years:

Good to see an INDEPENDENT :lamo telling it like it is.
