With reporting by Kyle Roerink
When Mitt Romney was a college freshman, he told fellow residents of his Stanford University dormitory that he sometimes disguised himself as a police officer – a crime in many states, including Michigan and California, where he then lived. And he had the uniform on display as proof.
So recalls Robin Madden, who had also just arrived as a freshman, the startling incident began when Romney called him and two or three other residents into his room, saying, “Come up, I want to show you something.” When they entered Romney’s room, “and laid out on his bed was a Michigan State Trooper’s uniform.”
Madden, a native Texan who graduated from Stanford in 1970 and went on to become a successful television producer and writer, has never forgotten that strange moment, which he has recounted to friends over the years as he observed his former classmate’s political ascent. The National Memo learned of the incident from a longtime Madden friend to whom he had mentioned it years ago.
Said Madden in a recent interview, “He told us that he had gotten the uniform from his father,” George Romney, then the Governor of Michigan, whose security detail was staffed by uniformed troopers. “He told us that he was using it to pull over drivers on the road. He also had a red flashing light that he would attach to the top of his white Rambler.”
In Madden’s recollection, confirmed by his wife Susan, who also attended Stanford during those years, “we thought it was all pretty weird. We all thought, ‘Wow, that’s pretty creepy.’ And after that, we didn’t have much interaction with him,” although both Madden and Romney were prep school boys living in the same dorm, called Rinconada.

And we are to believe this why?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but: Pics or it didn't happen.

Even if it did? So? Are we to believe that Romney will run around in his motorcade pulling people over for fun?

Let's apply the Jesus standard for sins and have the people that didn't do anything stupid in high school and college criticize this.

On a serious note....this guy is saying Romney told him a story about an activity he allegedly participated in. The guy claims to have seen the uniform, implying the uniform to be proof of Romney's alleged story.

It could be true.
It could be a story this guy made up.
It could be a true account of Romney's made-up story about his escapades back home in Michigan.

Unless there is something really illegal that he did while he played "dress up" (if this is even true), I really could care less.

That's pretty much my thought on it.

What I find interesting is that we're going back 30-40 years or more to dig up crap on Romney to paint him in a bad light. Is there nothing a little more recent that speaks to his character? I'm only 27, but the version of me that I chose to be at 18 is dramatically different than the version of me I choose to be now. If one person can "evolve", then so can others, right??

Pulling people over pretending to be a cop is definitely illegal. I think at the very least Romney should be asked if it's true.

Why would it matter? It would still just be his word against somebody else's. We'd be no further to knowing the honest truth.

Let's see....Romney gave a hippie a haircut 50 years ago (maybe) imprisoned poor Seamus in a kennel on the car roof while driiving the family to Canada for vacation 30 years ago and allegedly had a police uniform in his dorm room 40 years ago. We know this after his entire life has been scrubbed for dirt by Axelrod's goons and the American msm.
bo has bragged about using illegal drugs when he was in school, was aided inn the purchase of a million dollar estate by Tony Rezko a convicted felon and funneled a million dollars of tax payer's money to the University of Chicago Hospital when elected to the US senate. Just coincidentally Michelle's salary climbed $195,000 a year at the hospital at the same time and even more coincidentally the job was dissolved when she moved into the White House. bo also listened to Rev Wright's anti American rants for years, wrote about "white folks greed", talked about "typical" white people, was a member of the radical New Party in the 1990s and has run from his relationship with Bill Ayers. Among other things
bo can't compare in character to Romney. These attempts at character assasination by the left will just continue to draw attention to the stark difference between the two. It is not helping Obama at all.

That's assuming he denies it. Maybe he owns up to it. That would say a lot about his character. Does he say, "Yes, I did that, and it was a dumb thing to do" or does he say, "Ha ha ha, I did that, it sure was funny"? See the difference?

Why? We had people claiming President Obama had gay sex in the back of a limo while snorting cocaine....but it doesn't make it true, and it does not mean we need to waste any time talking about it.

What matters is what Romney has done with his adult life (which is a lot), and not stupid college antics (that may or may not even be true) from decades ago.

I seriously doubt he'd admit to doing it. Not only would it harm him, it would tarnish his father's reputation as well. Most people aren't going to admit to something that throws their family under the bus....alive or not.

That seems to be the point here... Romney is the least corrupt high profile political official I've ever seen in my lifetime...

In order to try and get dirt on him, millions of dollars are being spent, over the course of several years, and the best that can be done is "hey when he was a teenager"...

On this story, you think we could guess the political leanings of this supposed couple from Stanford?

At a time when gaining back the integrity of our public officials seems to be of dire importance to getting the youth to buy into the American system of governance, amidst a series of scandals with high profile politicians... this is just further proof that Romney is the guy we need in office... Not the Rezko funded, Acorn aided, Chicago Machine chrony, etc. politician...

I think what's more important than what he did way back when is how he answers to it. In regards to the gay kid who got his hair cut off, if Romney responds, "When I was a young man I did some foolish and insensitive things," then I'm okay with it. If he poo-poos it as not a big deal, then there's a problem. Same thing with the cop impersonation thing. If that's true, that was extremely poor judgement. In that case, Romney should just admit it was foolish and then move on.

Are you asking the same thing of Obama smoking crack? He still smokes... despite trying to tell everyone else about getting healthy... perhaps there's a tad of a double standard goin on here? The squeaky clean guy isn't squeaky clean enough for you, but when he is you bash him for being too square, or unrealistic.. Whereas the other candidate with a mile long list of corrupt influences, failures, and broken promises is accepted as is, and even lauded by many?

These kinds of stories speak volumes...about the idiots that think they are important.

Dood has been a husband, father, businessman, Olympics Organizer, and Governor. But....oooooohhh...noooeeessss! When he was a kid he didnt stupid ****!!!

Anyone here REALLY want to cast the first stone? Holy ****k...when I think back on my teenage years...well...hell...maybe retroactively the government should pull my TS/SCI clearance and courier access. You know...7 years in the middle east dealing with some of that next level ****...just not something I should have been trusted with because at one time...I was a kid and did stupid ****.

yeah...you funny!!! And also extraordinarily transparent. Oh...and did we mention a raging ****ing hypocrite?

Really? THIS is what they have on Romney? LOL!

If this keeps going, Obama's gonna lose by a landslide.

I be he also said a bad word once or twice too.... oh the HORROR!!!!

The November surprise is going to be that he once cut off the tags on his mattress before it was fully paid off... That rebel...

The dirt on Romney really fails in comparrison to our last 3 presidents.
