Oil was below $88 today. This is great for Obama. Cheaper oil means more money being spent, more traveling, more commerce.

Funny how the GOP is no longer yelling about the price of gasoline.

it may even get back to $3.00 a gallon in parts of the USA.

Looks like Bush's war for oil has paid off.

The reason why oil is going down is our economy is going down. If obama can concentrate on the price of oil and keep the media from talking about why oil is falling it will be good for his campaign. In other words it's good for obama.

obama is not responsible for oil going down just like he wasnt responsible for it going up.
do you remember when under bush it excedded $150 a barrel and everyone blamed bush????it went down afterwards and back up under obama, problem is neither president did anything to affect oil costs,it was speculation.

Yep, and the reason oil has risen so far is the recovering economy.

wrong again.

the cost of oil these days has nothing to do with America's economy.

i actually have to agree with you thunder.

its supply and demand mixed with speculation.if you actually look at gas prices and what opec wants to charge vs what the world pays, its people buying oil and speculating shortage that drives prices up,not oil companies and not presidents.

a president has the potential toskyrocket prices, but neither bush nor obama nor clinton have done anything close to affecting price, its free market scares from middle east events.

Isnt it fair game. When the we had the rally earlier this year the cons wanted to focus on gas prices.

the price of gas in SW Ohio is still around 3.75 a gallon. It went down to 3.59 briefly and its back up to 3.75. Diesel's over 4 dollars

Oil went down in 2008, but that didn't help McCain at all. He lost.

Don't be absurd. Of course the American economy has a substantial impact on oil prices. We are the biggest consumer of oil on the planet. We use more oil than the next four biggest consumers COMBINED.

Thunder’s right oil/gasoline price declines are great for Obama and in a nonpartisan way it is great for us all. AND if unemployment drops another percentage point before November it again will be great for Obama and in a nonpartisan way it is great for us all. AND I both these occur Romney’s challenge will be nearly insurmountable.

There was a brief period when the economy showed a glimmer of hope and speculators bid the price of oil up. The other reason oil was bid up was because speculators saw a better economy without any corresponding increase in the supply of oil, that was what conservatives blamed on Obama. Now the economy seems to be going south again and speculators see more supply of oil than a weak economy will demand so oil prices fall. The sad part is if Obama had opened up drilling and the pipe line when the economy was on the verge of going again it well could have been that little extra shove we needed to get over the top, instead he stomped out the little flame that could have grown with his absurd anti fossil fuel stance and desire to kill coal. Instead he killed the economy.

Funny how Obama is not screaming about greedy speculators anymore. Does he think speculators went away or they just took the other side of the trade.

Sucks to live in Ohio. Even Taxachusetts has cheaper fuel.

american economy does not affect oil prices, rather oilprices affect the economy.oilisthrough spoeculators and world supply and demand.

Another ridiculous post. Our recovery has been going on for three years. The recent slow down Is the result of the problems in Europe and Asia. The stupid pipeline is inconsequential in the big picture.

It doesn't matter if the president has any control over gas prices. The American people will still hold him responsible. The price drop in gasoline will only help Obama.

I'll still have to disagree. If gas prices are rising it's probably because the economy is heating up. If they're falling it's probably because the economy is cooling down. In either case the status of the broader economy outweighs the effect of gas prices.

100% untrue.

That is true but more so cuz Europe is in shambles.
