An Etch-A-Sketch moment for Romney?

Romney is almost as bad with his climate change flip floppery.

No matter what he does, he's far smarter and more competent than Obumble. Speaking of flip flops lets talk about

1) Closing Gitmo

2) pulling out of Afghanistan

3) ending the "Bush tax cuts"

Talk about taking something out of context...

And the key would is "began"...

And we're not 'healing' fast enough.

Oh, there was a context? What was that? The key part is actually "this was the moment".

And if the earth isn't healing as fast as Obama predicted, whose fault is that?

Cool, let's talk about those things.

1) Obama's very first executive order was to close Gitmo. Executive order No. 1. Unfortunately it proved to be impossible as a practical matter because Congress and the states threw up too many roadblocks to trying the inmates states side.

2) Obama campaigned on the promise of expanding our presence in Afghanistan -- not pulling out. Promise kept.

3) Obama campaigned on maintaining the middle class tax cuts -- promise kept -- and ending the top tax cuts. Again, he was effectively blocked from doing that by Republicans. He did not change his stance that ending them was the best course of action, all else being equal.

If it was impossible he shouldn't have made the promise.

In fact he is pulling troops out of Afghanistan with his promise, such as it is, to withdraw more.

You mean the George Bush tax cuts?

He controlled the House and Senate for two years and was still blocked by Republicans? This clearly demonstrates what a weak and ineffective jerk this guy is.

It wasn't impossible when he made the promise. Congress made it so.

Well yeah, he didn't promise that he would send troops to Afghanistan and never bring them home. He said, correctly, that the war had been badly neglected and that, if we were to have any chance, we would have to commit a lot more troops. We got bin Laden and killed most of AQ's leadership, which was the original objective. It's now obvious that it would take a monumental effort to defeat the Taliban and we can't afford it, and the country has no taste for it, so it's time to wrap it up.

Wow, the wingnuts never tire of this lame argument. If it makes a leader "weak" because he can't get 100% cooperation from his troops 100% of the time, then Boehner must be the weakest leader in history. He can't even get a bare majority of his caucus moving in the same direction on critical legislation. Obama, on the other hand, regularly gets 98 - 100% cooperation. Unfortunately the Republicans in the Senate are only interested in **** blocking Obama so it actually takes 100% Democratic cooperation to get anything done.

What do you folks think of Romney new found stance on student loans? It is squarely in opposition to the GOP and the Ryan Budget? How can he support both???

He's Mitt Romney, he can support all positions simultaneously.

The House bill to extend the lower rates has 127 co-sponsors, including ZERO Republicans....

There's gotta be other stuff attached to the bill that they are opposing. I'm going to look into it. Of course, this type of market manipulation is what gets us in trouble IMO. If interest rates went up, the number of loans would go down, which would A) force the lenders to lower the rates or B) colleges to lower their tuition. Just another example of our gov't and society as a whole not wanting to go through the pain of weaning off the government's tit.

The Republicans' stated objection is that they want offsetting spending cuts elsewhere to pay for this stimulus program. Republicans don't really get the whole stimulus thing.
