Rick Santorum Drops Out: GOP Presidential Candidate Suspends Campaigns

Ah man....I was really hoping that Obama would have been able to run against Santorum. It would have made for a fun fall. Oh well... Repubs......looks like you guys are stuck with Mr. "Etch a Sketch".

No, it was fine, just a little better here. You didn't do anything wrong.

Well, it let's Romney focus on the general. No spending time and money in states that won't be in play in the general. It gives republicans time to gather around Romney. It also means that maybe Romney can take a day or two off, which he probably can really use. Things are going to slow down alot not until convention time, late August.

Ya think Ron Paul will finally cave?

I don't think it matters one way or another. I am not sure if The Rent is Too Damn High guy is going to cave either.

Re: Santorum is out

Guess I'm not voting, again.

I think it will depend on events still to come. He can, but the questions is will he. More importantly, what is the economy doing in October? Obama is the clear favorite to win(60 % chance according to intrade), but is by no means a shoe in.

The post-mortem on the death of Santorum's campaign will be that it drowned in Romney's money. LOL.

Santorum didn't quit. He was paid a huge sum of $$ to drop out.

LOL - rich ass bastard wipes his ass with a huge sum of mone yeverytime he ****s - I doubt he was swayed by more.

The money was good and the time convenient. Money talks everytime. Santorum is not the SAINT he would have you believe. He is a regular mortal everyday common human person and his avarice and ambition just ordinary and human.

NOPE. Not a chance. This may just come close to matching the political pounding that Reagan put on Mondale.
It will be close. Reagan was a popular POTUS running against the VP of an unpopular POTUS whom he had beaten soundly. Mondale was just a sacrifice for the party to put up a candidate. Obama is not well liked and has not had a good presidency. His signature health care has been a disaster and is not well liked. Add on a flailing ecomony that is likely to go back into recession by the summer if gasoline remains high or god forbid goes even higher.

I would not predict a Romney win, but I doubt there is a single liberal pundit or politician who would be surprised if Obama were to lose. Also though, I don't think there is a conservative pundit or politician who would be surprised by a romney loss either.

The title should be Santorum makes it easier for Romney to hand the presidency to Obama.

In all honesty, outside of Paul, Romney is the republicans best shot. Santorum would not hold up in the general election.

Careful. Like the unnamed Senator in your quote there; if you give up your Principles you may as well be dead.

That unnamed Senator was more for the purposes of being funny than taking it seriously. You may be the only person that would share such sentiments.

I am politically expedient enough in that I am willing to compromise on some grounds in order to get the whole of what I agree, or a perceived improvement. I think it is the most effective route in democratic politics.
