Do people really believe Santorum? Or do they look past what he says and see it more as his loyalty to evangelical Christianity indifferent to specifics of what he says?
1. The way God gives teenage girls and women the “gift of a baby” is by rape.
2. People who use birth control and contraceptives are engaging in decadent and unnatural acts.
3. He is not running a “political campaign,” he isrunning a “spiritual campaign.”
4. The United States was a great country prior to the end of segregation
5. He supported state laws outlawing birth control.
6. He claims women should not work and instead stay home and be homemakers.
7. He opposes public, private and religious schools, rather mothers should home school their children as his wife does.
8. Gays are the same as people who have sex with dogs and boys.
9. Life beings at conception, so birth control pills, patches and injection should be outlawed.
10. No exceptions for abortion, including not for rape, incest and the life of the mother.
11. The Bible circumvents the US Constitution and Bill of Rights.
The list goes on and on.
Yet this is the “new” Santorum. He was pro-choice, pro-big deficit budgets, voted to eliminate all state right-to-work laws, favored earmarks before he was against them, and was a Washington DC lawyer career political and lobbyist before he condemned what he was before in his entire political/professional life.
So do people just like his Catholic theocratic spiritual campaign words because they seem nice and sincere, but don’tactually believe he’ll try to do what he says? Or actually do people voting for him believe him and are voting for his declared goals?
