Obama's approval rating for February: 45%

Considering how low the GOP's is, I would get to hopeful there Navy Pride.

His approval rating is also higher than any of the GOP candidates'.

George W. Bush's approval rating was 48% a month before the election. If that bum can get re-elected anyone can. Mitt Romney is going to beat Obama? Get real, that man hose more flaws then John Kerry x2. I also noticed how you failed to show any legitimate polling showing Mitt Romney beating Obama in ANY swing state, because he's not. If the election was held today Obama would beat Romney in Ohio, Florida, PA, and Virgina. Obama beats Romney in women support by huge numbers, he beats Romney 6-1 in Latino support, even bigger numbers. If you REALLY think Romney can beat Obama....lets just hope you know better.

That number doesn't seem to be accurate to me. I don't recall him ever being below forty. I don't even think Bush got into the twenties.

Obama has never dipped below 40%. Bush did hit the mid 20s in his final months.

It's intersting to compare Obama's numbers to Bush Sr. and Carter. Obama is doing better than either of the one-term presidents at this point. Bush and Carter both started dropping from about this point on, getting into the 30s and low 40s over the next three to six months. I thik Obama wins pretty easily if he stays between 45 and 50. If he slips to the low 40s or below he may have problems.

I saw an ABC news poll that put Romney ahead of Obama by 3 points and Obama's approval rating for "strong approval" at 26% and strong disapprove at 62% I believe. That woman on FNC sitting in for O'rielly with that nails-on-the-chalkboard voice talked to a bunch of people about how this is definitely not going to be a cakewalk for Obama as gas prices continue to rise. When people don't blame Obama thats fine, but what has he done to help? Nothing. He blocked the keystone pipeline, has stood in the way of drilling, won't open ANWR, etc. Those are active things he has done that are common sense things that would show he really wants to at least TRY to bring down the price of fuel by making speculators believe that there will be an increase in supply in the future, thus bringing down prices now. He hasn't done anything that would make sense.

He doesn't directly effect prices, but if he would take some common sense steps, he might be able to nudge it in the right direction. Of course that would require a brain and understanding of the oil and gas industry, which he definitely does not possess either of. But to his defense, neither do most people, especially on this forum. It's frustrating. It's like a bank teller walking into a tractor production line and telling people how to do their jobs.

Cherry picking polls and spouting nonsense about oil prices? I've gotta say -- that doesn't concern me too much. :)

Meanwhile, Mitt Romney has a 33% favorable rating ... to 48.4% unfavorable. Mitt Romney Favorability - Pollster - Huffington Post 2012 Election Dashboard!

In contrast, Obama has a 50% favorable rating, to 44% unfavorable. Obama Favorable Rating - Pollster - Huffington Post 2012 Election Dashboard#!

For the last time people, the Keystone pipeline was not oil that was going to have any effect on the American gas prices. This crap oil from Canada was going to be shipped overseas. No matter how many times Fox news tries to bundle the Keystone pipeline with the rising cost of gas, it just doesn't have anything to do with each other. The rising cost of gas is because of Iran, and all the instability in the middle east that WE are largely responsible for.

Obama's ratings are stagnating because of the uncertainty of gas prices, I cannot deny that, but he really has no control whatsoever on the rise or fall of gas prices. That is up to OPEC and the speculation markets. Uneducated people will look at the gas pump and curse Obama because they don't have a damn clue as to who to be mad at.

On one hand right wingers LOVE the free market system, but when it isn't working the way they want it to they go ahead and blame the president... Your ignorance is frustrating.

This is great News for Republicans. We just might get this incompetent bum out of office.

Obama's approval rating for February: 45%
As much as I would hate to "rain on the OP's parade," Navy Pride's celebration is somewhat premature.

The average of the latest results from the 5 major polls (Rasmussen Tracking, ABC News/Wash Post, NBC News/Wall St. Jrnl, Politico/GWU/Battleground, USA Today/Gallup) taken from February 19th to March 11th, 2012 indicates that this so-called "incompetent bum" is 2.2 points ahead of Romney!

Obama (D): 48.0%

Romney (R): 45.8%

Spread: Obama +2.2

Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) offered an amendment to keep oil from the Keystone pipeline in the U.S. — echoing a failed amendment from a markup last week to keep natural gas tapped in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for domestic use.

Markey said his amendment is intended to prevent only refined petroleum products like gasoline, diesel fuel and jet fuel from being exported. Non-refined petroleum products, he said, like pantyhose, footballs, toothbrushes and steel, can still be exported. But Republicans said his amendment as written would ban non-refined products as well.

linkypoo...

So please, lets dispense with the whole notion that the GOP gives a rats ass about energy independence. They shoot down any keep it in America amendments that are ever fronted. This proves that "Drill baby drill" means Drill and export for bigger $'s for their major campaign contributors... not drill to help with energy independence.

I'm always amazed that it is this high. Who are these people who want high gas prices, high food prices, regulation Tsunami's, the right to arrest and detain American citizens without due process, etc??? I realize there are lots of Statist's out there, but this many??? Are there actually this many people in America who don't want freedom and liberty???

It depends on the poll you want to believe and see. I have seen polls with Obama (and bush when he was in office) lower than 20 and higher than 50. cbsnews had obama at 41% one day last week. Foxnews the same day had him in the 30's and NBC had him in the 50's. All of these polls are worthless. Poeple are going to poll people to get the results they want, and people are going to go with the ones that reflect how they want things to ge.

The higher gas prices will happen no matter who is president.

And the right to detain citizens is going to happen no matter who is president because neither Obama, Romney or Santorum show any signs of reversing this.

This is spot on. No president or congress is going to repeal it. Republicans will throw it up 100 times during the next election that gas prices are high, and NDAA was authorized under Obama. But even if they get into office, they aren't going to change it. They will keep it all in place, and blame the last president when people gripe.
