Hello, this is my first post.
I hear your thoughts on the intellectual capacities of Americans, and how most Americans are idiotic, and I feel I must disagree. I don't believe citizens of america in the 1800's were any more rational or logical, but because the ability to express your thoughts was limited to the upper classes, a more intelligent discourse was able to be kept. With the advent of internet, I wouldn't say that intelligent discussion has decreased, but perhaps there's simply more bull**** to go around.
Such is to be expected when you let the uneducated masses decide policy about matters of state. In fact, such is the fate of every democracy, whereby two wolves decide on having lamb for supper, and the lamb agrees with them because the wolves tell her that lamb is 'delicious'. This is not to say that america is precisely like this, but to make any intelligent decision about matters of state, you have to be educated. I don't percieve that to be the case with today's media.

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

After the havoc that I’m gonna wreak
No more words will critics have to speak
I’ve got the answers to the tangled knot
Sleep tight in your cot
