When I first saw this segment of the Daily Show illustrating how the media, specifically Fox News, casually brushed off Romney's win in Michigan (starting at the 9 min. mark), I took the ribbing with a grain of salt. But then I found this NYTimes article going into detail concerning the anemic showing of registered Republican voters. The part from the NYTimes article that caught my attention was this:

It’s very easy to excite the base with incendiary comments. We’ve seen throughout the campaign if you’re willing to say really outrageous things that are accusative, attacking of President Obama, that you’re going to jump up in the polls. I’m not willing to light my hair on fire to try and get support. I am who I am.

Kinda makes you unsure what to think about Romney. I mean, on the one hand you applaud him for finally saying "I'm gonna do me regardless of what my party thinks," towhich I go "Way to go, you McCain-Maverick, you!" :2razz: But then you think, "Ummm, you do know you're pissing off your party leaders by going public stating the obvious concerning their campaign tactics, right?"

Republicans, it's no wonder your party's clammering to get someone else into the race. You really do have your work cut off for you.

Nothing surprising. If he feels okay lying to them about his opinions to get their votes, then obviously he does not respect them.

I think Romney is very damaging to the GOP. GOP voters are often people who hate the elites, the ones who think they have the right to decide how you live, the people who want to waste your money on projects that do not benefit the average American. They also dislike economic elites. 57% of poor republicans say that the GOP is doing too little to help poor people, only 18% say they are doing too much. Neither Republicans or Democrats like rich people, especially when they get involved in politics. Romney is a 1%-er and will reinforce the Republican image that they only help rich people. I don't think he is right that you have to be an extremist. But you need to inspire people, people need to be able to trust you. That is Romneys problem.

By becoming a party of rich right wing elites, then the GOP will lose much of its base. Not all notRomneys are very conservative. Some will go to Obama, others won't vote at all. I am one of these people. I have switched sides from independent leaning Republican, to independent leaning Democrat. I am still a conservative, but I realized that Obama will probably do a better job. The Republicans don't seem to care about anything other than winning.

Ummmmm (hopefully i read this right) but Romney is the first to mention Obama in anything. Whether it is true or outrageously false, I never seen a debate where he doesn't end his ramble with Obama hatin'. Everyone knows if you say something bad about Obama, you'll get approval from the base. Him trying to step back from it saying "I don't bash Obama to get base support" is pure b.s when he does it all the fu*kin time.

It's 100% true though. He's right.

Very true, and as often as not his claims are either false or partially false.
