This is what I am beggining to hear: that the GOP establishment in Congress actually prefers Obama be re-elected, than Gingrich become President.

Story after story of former aids & co-workers of Newt, just sick to their stomach about the idea of Gingrich becoming the GOP nominee..let alone President.

Even Bob Dole says that if Newt becomes the GOP nominee, Obama will win by a landslide..and clearly that means with a good deal of Republican votes.

I don't think they'd actually prefer Obama to Gingrich. They're just shooting down Gingrich because they know he'll almost definitely lose, probably in a landslide.

Bob Dole = John McCain = Mitt Romney. Very tepid, compromising and fearful of the msm.

They're called "Q-tips". They're used for cleaning out your ears. :rofl

Bob Dole, John McCain, and Mitt Romney are moderates. Moderates = Losing

Dole lost to a president who's approval ratings was in the upper fifties. McCain lost on the heels of a president who's approval ratings were in the 20-30s. There is no comparison.

Wishful thinking from a lefty.

Romney told Laura Ingram the economy is improving as would be expected following a recession. When she implied saying that was not helping his case, he replied, 'it's the truth.'

well, the economy is getting better.

slowly...but surely.

Apparently, Romney gave a speech in front of a forclosing house in Florida...saying something about banks having feelings too. That didn't go over well at all!

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The middle class will see Romney as an elitist. This will hurt Romney big time in the general election, if he is the GOP nominee.

Hey, if John Kerry was an elitist (married to the Ketchup Queen), Mitt and his generations with millions don't stand a chance. I'm afraid Mitt doesn't have any idea what the average American has to deal with financially. And he needs a better speaking consultant.

I read a classic example of that the other day. A reporter was apparently staying at the same hotel as the Romney's and by happenstance ran accross them in the laundry room. Mitt and his wife were doing their own laundry and the whole thing was actually pretty charming. And then Mitt starts talking about how he just couldn't live without these Brooks Bros. wrinkle-free shirts....

What's the problem? Wearing a good shirt that doesn't wrinkle?

Men | Dress Shirts | Non-Iron | Brooks Brothers

Bob Dole, John McCain, and Mitt Romney are moderates. Moderates = Losing

Lets see..

Reagan was a moderate

Bush 1 was a moderate

Hell even Bush 2 was a moderate compared to many of the crack pots in the GOP today.

They all won.

McCain a semi moderate with a crackpot running mate = Lost.

You got to be joking! Reagan a moderate? :lamo

I think there actually may be some truth to this. Not of the overall GOP, but of some of them up there in the establishment. Romney and Obama are basically fraternal twins. Newt if he becomes POTUS will institute many changes, and will be forcing congress to work together. Many changes that the GOP establishment which nowadays is about as liberal (albeat with different friends) as is the democratic party will not want to see.

While it is so often said that "this is the most important election EVAR... and is always rhetoric, I do feel that this election is the most significant at least in my lifetime of those, and sadly most in the GOP establishment that is for protecting the status quo. I believe that is the GOP establishments main reason for backing Romney. He is as status quo as they come, and for some, they'd rather have Obama then Newt or any of the others. I believe that if Obama wins, we will see a full scale civil war in the GOP afterwords. Sadly, it looks as if Obama winning is what it will take to root out the liberals who have taken over the establishment of the GOP.

The problem is that Mitt is politically tone deaf. What do people associate Brooks Bros. with? Wall Street bankers, lawyers ... money. It's obviously not a big deal -- just illustrative. Here he was handed a public relations coup that money can't by, and he blows it by injecting one of his classic Richie Rich lines. He might have well have groused that he shouldn't have given his butler the night off.

He also said that $375,000 a year "isn't that much" - not a good thing to say when you're running for president (even if it isn't that much compared to the $42 million he makes through capital gains).

See, it's stupid comments like this that tells me people like you will happily be speaking a combination dialect of Chinese, Arabic and Spanish in 20 or so years.

I was at senior water aerobics this morning and talk turned to the coming election. I was hearing from this group of very conservative (both socially and politically) that if Gingrich is the GOP nominee they will not stay home on election day, but will get out to vote against him. They don't like Romney, but they say they would stay home rather than vote against him. Most are dismayed with all the GOP candidate left.
