Romney's Swiss Bank Account Is a Gift for Democrats

Kinda wonder though... If Obama is thinking to make this a "greed" narrative about Romney, is he prepared to go toe-to-toe with him on Charitable giving?

Lots of options not available to the vast majority of Americans, as they would have little or nothing to live on. But if you're already worth $250 million why not put those $300k speakers fees into tax deferred account.

So what you are saying is that if all American's can't save for their retirement, then no one should?

Additionally, you can't put $300 million in a tax deferred account. IRA's have an upper limit of $5000 annually- and that includes ROTH IRA's, for which the contributions have already been taxed! 401k's have to be employer sponsored and those limits are 17k. So your argument is not valid. And if you have a job, you can usually contribute to the IRA with pre-tax dollars, which lowers your taxable income and costs you less in taxes.... now. But tax deferred does not mean tax exempt. That a person who defers their taxes is evading taxes is a misstatement.

Vacation homes, yachts, gambling losses, mortgage interest & charitable donations (the value of which increase with income) And the Hollywood favorite, the ranch subsidy.

And I forgot to mention the carried interest loophole applied to bonus compensation. Another way 'Joe' from the OP, depending on how he is actually compensated can minimize his tax liability.

You can not deduct the purchase of a yacht, though you may be able depreciate it. And gambling losses? Anyone can claim that. Even if you play the lottery every payday. If you own a home, you can deduct the mortgage interest- whether you are rich or impoverished. And if you are going to start talking about subsidies.... I'd be all for eliminating all of them.

This is rhetoric. It is rhetoric because it is commonly used to illustrate the liberal mindset, however it is illogical and it is untrue.

Ten giant U.S. companies avoiding income taxes: Sen. Bernie Sanders list
March 27, 2011

..... Some people call the income tax system with generous loopholes for big companies corporate welfare or corporate entitlements.

1) Exxon Mobil made $19 billion in profits in 2009. Exxon not only paid no federal income taxes, it actually received a $156 million rebate from the IRS, according to its SEC filings.

2) Bank of America received a $1.9 billion tax refund from the IRS last year, although it made $4.4 billion in profits and received a bailout from the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department of nearly $1 trillion.

3) Over the past five years, while General Electric made $26 billion in profits in the United States, it received a $4.1 billion refund from the IRS.

4) Chevron received a $19 million refund from the IRS last year after it made $10 billion in profits in 2009.

5) Boeing, which received a $30 billion contract from the Pentagon to build 179 airborne tankers, got a $124 million refund from the IRS last year.

6) Valero Energy, the 25th largest company in America with $68 billion in sales last year received a $157 million tax refund check from the IRS and, over the past three years, it received a $134 million tax break from the oil and gas manufacturing tax deduction.

7) Goldman Sachs in 2008 only paid 1.1 percent of its income in taxes even though it earned a profit of $2.3 billion and received an almost $800 billion from the Federal Reserve and U.S. Treasury Department.

8) Citigroup last year made more than $4 billion in profits but paid no federal income taxes. It received a $2.5 trillion bailout from the Federal Reserve and U.S. Treasury.

9) ConocoPhillips, the fifth largest oil company in the United States, made $16 billion in profits from 2007 through 2009, but received $451 million in tax breaks through the oil and gas manufacturing deduction.

10) Over the past five years, Carnival Cruise Lines made more than $11 billion in profits, but its federal income tax rate during those years was just 1.1 percent.

It doesn't take a "rocket scientist" to figure out who's funneling millions of dollars into Romney's PAC?

Dukakis was a idiot, he let a murder loose on the streets.
Despite Outcry, Haley Barbour Defends His Pardoning of 200 Mississippi Convicts
The former governor has been denounced by the state’s attorney general who said the pardons may be unconstitutional.
01/13/2012

Haley Barbour, the recently-recently retired governor of Mississippi, has created a controversy with his decision to pardon nearly 200 of the state’s convicts. And the now former governor said he stands by his decision.

Barbour said Friday he’s “very comfortable” with his decision to grant pardons or other clemency to the convicts in his last days in office.

Explaining that Mississippi is a Christian state, Barbour said it was important for him to act with compassion toward the convicts.

“I believe in second chances and I try hard to be forgiving,” Barbour said. “I am very comfortable and totally at peace with these pardons.” He added that he is “fully confident the pardons and other clemency I have given are all valid.”
Wasn't Dukakis also the governor of a good "Christian state" that believes in "second chances," "to be forgiving" and "to act with compassion toward the convicts."

Obviously, "American" doesn't share these sentiments!

They're ALL rich. Every last one of them.

Now why it matters is beyond me.

Sources? You can show that no one else like Obama got any money?

You have proof of tax evasion?

The DNC doesn't need enough evidence for a conviction, they only need enough to win in the court of public opinion.

Romney was never the best choice in the primaries. Unfortunately, it looks like he will be the GOP nominee.

Wow! I mean, just wow! The only electable GOP candidate had a Swiss Bank account.

Of course, Fox News will now embrace all things European. Freedom Fries will now be called, get this... French Fries!!

And right about now, Warren Buffett is saying, "14%, damn! Who does his taxes?"

They should hand out Swiss Cheese and Chocolate before the state of the union, tonight.

I really hate Romney, but how does he paying the taxes that the law requires make him an asshole? There are far better reasons to hate Romney than that.

I have a Swiss bank account, am I a criminal or robbing America? Maybe I just like having my money in a stable country with a stable economy.

So you hate America? Why are you so anti-American since you dont trust your own country and your own country's banks? You are not very patriotic are you now... tsk!

And yes the same can be said of Romney.

Ah, I guess you're one of the "be patriotic, buy American" types? Anyone who chooses to purchase certain products of higher quality from another country is clearly a traitor.

The funniest part of that is you don't even reside in America according to your profile.

on the upside. at least when they start to complain that they aren't engaging in class warfare, we can point straight to stuff like this.

...actually, that has nothing whatsoever to do with Patriotism. You are thinking, perhaps, of nationalism.

frankly, i prefer it. it keeps Presidents from having to descend afterwards and potentially weakening what is left of the honor of the office, and (more importantly) it indicates that they are successful people. All things being equal, I frankly would rather have a more competent, hardworking, intelligent individual in the White House than a lazy, foolish, bum.
