This question has been intriguing me of late. It's also probably more for Paul supporters... of which I am not, in the interests of full disclosure... but obviously anybody can participate.

- If Ron Paul gets the Rep nomination, who would you want as his VP?

- If Ron Paul gets the Rep nomination, who do you think would actually get the nod as his VP/running mate? (If different)

- Is the VP choice for Ron Paul more important than for the other potential nominees?

As far as the last question, I think it absolutely is more important. I normally don't put the VP nominee very high on my priority list, but Paul would be an exception. First, his philosophy is not always in lock-step with the party, so would the party go along with his ideal choice, or would he be pressured to take on someone more in line with the party's preferences? If he compromises, does that person have an influence on Paul's administration, or are they more of a do-nothing figurehead VP?

Which, in a round-about way, brings us to...

Second, and extremely important IMO, is his age. He's 78. Anyone who has been even marginally observant in their lifetime knows that age can suddenly take a severe turn for the worse rather quickly and without warning. It's nothing against him, it's just the potential natural decline of the human species in old age. He looks somewhat frail, but overall fine. Now. For Grandpa, that's fine. For the POTUS, that's a potential huge deal.

IMO, more than any other candidate in the primaries, I would want to know his thoughts and preferences regarding who his running mate would be. If I were considering voting for him (in a primary), I'd have to have at least some kind of idea. Waiting until the convention, as is normally done, wouldn't be a good enough answer for me.

Dennis Kucinich

As ridiculous as it sounds Dennis Kucinich. After reading your post he was the first to come to mind. He and Paul have very similar positions on various topics.

I know. They are real buds in the congress and are always doing interviews together because they have a lot of common ground.

Paul's VP?

Sorry, your thread title made me laugh out loud.

And this completed it.

Dennis Kucinich

Don't get me wrong, Kucinich is the closet match to my political positions of any in congress, but there is no way a liberal, even if coupled with an ultra extreme conservative like Paul, is going to be in the White House, other than guests, in our lifetimes.

SHeeeeit. If Ron Paul pulled Kucinich into his fold as veep or as cabinet member, I'd have to seriously consider Ron for prez.

Truth be told, Paul ain't going to get elected in our lifetimes either. It would sure be great to have Dennis there.

Right, and half the people that currently support Paul would jump ship because of Kucinich. ;)

Nah... the 2 party system takes the voters for granted and there's a reason for that. Because they can. The R and the D can ignore their base as they always do and fight it out in battleground states. They don't even have to try in the "safe states."

reguardless of his vp its guaranteed that paul would choose the closest to his ideals,if the man wouldnt sell out before, why would he then.

South Carolina Rep.Tom Davis may be a nice pick. A bit to early for him but maybe...

Paul and Dennis are good friends despite differences. But I think Paul would want someone align with his ideas fully for vp but Sec. of Defense or State is a possibility. It'll be wild if he was vp though (good way).

Justin Amash is a bit too young and Rand would be kinda weird.

Who knows...

If you're wondering who is Tom Davis then

Tom Davis says Tea Party should be outraged at tax giveaways to corporations - YouTube

Would be kind of weird if he were to pull the lib prez candidate away from the election and make him his veep. Gary Johnson.

I don't think the old crazy guy with a liberal sidekick is the duo that is going to champion a third party victory in November................but that's just me.

Perhaps not. But tell me it wouldn't turn heads.

Is Kucinich still married to that hot red head? That would influence my vote.
