Virginia Judge Rejects GOP Primary Ballot Appeal for Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Jon Huntsman and Rick Perry | TheBlaze.com

RICHMOND, Va. (The Blaze/AP) — A federal judge has refused to add Texas Gov. Rick Perry and three other candidates to Virginia’s Republican presidential primary ballot.
U.S. District Judge John Gibney ruled Friday that the candidates should have challenged Virginia’s primary qualifying rules earlier. Gibney said they knew the rules months ago.
Perry sued last month after failing to submit enough signatures to get on the ballot. Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Jon Huntsman also failed to qualify and later joined Perry’s lawsuit. They asked Gibney to declare Virginia’s law unconstitutional and add their names to the March 6 ballot.
Only former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Texas Rep. Ron Paul qualified for the March 6 primary ballot.

Good call, I say. You can't go changing the guidelines just because you weren't savvy enough to meet them.

I don't have a problem with the ruling. rules are rules after all. I am still questioning how these guys failed to get on the virginia ballot but had no problems with any of the other states. Ones that are far less important in the overall scheme of things. But, that is another issue. Virginia was talking about amending the ballot rules to get the rest of the candidates on the ballot so the process doesn't look so ridiculous. I still feel there was something not right about all of this. It's beginning to not matter as much now as the GOP establishment is rejecting the core principles and beliefs of conservatism and of the majority of its members by handing the nomination to Romney. It has been an ugly time for a once great party. I am sad to see it dissolve the way it has. It is definetly no longer the party of Lincoln or Reagan, that's for damn sure.

Garbage.

The establishment is doing whatever they can to throw the election for Mitt Romney. It will take a miracle for a real conservative to beat him.

Huh? They didn't follow the rules that they knew about way beforehand. The judge ruled correctly. I don't understand how anyone could honestly disagree with this ruling.

how is this the fault of the 'establishment'? those 4 didnt have their s### together, and screwed themselves.

These candidates did this to themselves. They have nobody else to blame.

This certainly does help Romney. But it has nothing to do with the establishment rallying around him with this ruling.

Romney is the freaking poster boy for conservative economics HOW DO YOU PEOPLE NOT GET THIS?

It matters not as all three of these guys will be out of the race before Virginia even has a primary.

I thought he was the poster boy for Grecian Formula?

I'm fine with this ruling. It's not like this rule jumped out and surprised anybody. These candidates simply neglected to do their due diligence.

You don't think it's fishy that none of the candidates BUT Mitt Romney made it on to the ballot?

LOL sure, a Massachusetts Moderate is the "poster boy" for conservative economics...

If you believe that, I've got a bridge to sell ya

I'm not too thrilled about this, but I read about this over a week ago.

Maybe it's fine with you that Mitt Romney is the ONLY candidate on the ballot in Virginia... but I believe in DEMOCRACY where the people get to choose their candidates.... NOT A ROBED JUDGE IN A COURT.

Let's see... Mitt Romney or..... Mitt Romeny? Hmm... who should I choose?

It's like when the Iraqi's used to have an election and the choice was Saddam, or Saddam..... Hey! Saddam got 98% of the vote!!!

Hail to our chosen leader.

Romney may be a moderate on social issues, but he is hardcore conservative on financial matters. He wants to make the Bush tax cuts permanent and his tax plan would raise taxes on the middle class.

i'm no fan of romney, but it is not his fault that several of his opponents couldnt be bothered to take the time to get enough sigs to get on the ballot...food for thought, do you really want one of those guys as your potus? if they can't run a presidential campaign.....just sayin'

He has the weakest tax plan of all of the republican candidates.
