South Carolina Primary 21Jan2012 Thread

It's sorta a winner take all in SC. Whoever is the overall winner gets 11 out of 25 delegates. The other 14 delegates are awarded to whoever wins each congressional district (per 2 delegates). I don't believe it'll be a sweep so some delegates will probably be handed to 2nd and maybe even paul by luck if I understand the rules correctly.

You've pretty much summed up why SC going "conservative" is so important to the Republican party. If Romney were to win three consecutive Republican caucuses - Iowa, NH and SC - it will all but end any chance of a Right-wing Conservative candidate winning the GOP primary nomination.

Santorum won Iowa.
Romney won New Hampshire.
???? won South Carolina. (I predict Newt)

if i were a staunch social conservative, santorum would get my vote. i thought he did well in the debate.

fixed it for you.

I could never vote for him

No, it's not.

Anybody who thinks the race is over will have to think agian tonight!

South Carolina gave us McCain. Please God, don't do that to us again...

Santorum thinks it's okay to outlaw contraceptives. The swing voters will never go for that. Santorum could never win a national election.

The details to that claim: Santorum on Glenn Beck Program Explains Position on Contraception, Fiscal Conservatism, Military Spending | Video | TheBlaze.com

“This is crazy,” said Santorum, in explaining that his opposition in the landmark Supreme Court Case Griswold v Connecticut, is not to the court’s decision to invalidate a Connecticut law prohibiting the use of contraceptives. Rather Santorum is opposed to judicial activism, and “the creation of new rights because the court says so.” In the Griswold case the Supreme Court decided that the contraceptives law violated “the right to privacy,” which later led to the decision in Roe v Wade which said that the same “right to privacy” invalidated state laws that banned most abortions.

I'm praying that South Carolina comes through for us Democrats and goes for Newt.

I think that would be the worst thing that could happen for democrats. Newt still won't win the nomination most likely, but it would draw things out, giving the republican candidates lots and lots more free publicity and time on the news. As a democrat, I would much prefer that the primaries wind up and republicans stop getting all the free publicity.

I'm praying that South Carolina comes through for us...........

I'm praying that South Carolina comes through for us and elects a true conservative.

Why should Republicans vote for a liberal like Romney?

Romney raised taxes as governor. On top of that, he created RomneyCare.

It is time for me to go vote.

I STILL haven't made up my mind.

I don't think this has ever happened before. To me, anyway.
