If you look at the SC poll numbers, Romney is in the lead.

If you combine the numbers from the conservative candidates (Gingrich, Santorum, Perry) they surpass Romney.

If Gingrich, Santorum, and Perry truly want what is best for conservative voters, then 2 of the 3 need to drop out ASAP.

or maybe they will continue to campaign and gather supporters, so they can take it for themselves.

Winning 5 or 10 percent of the vote does a candidate no good in a winner-take-all state.

while that might be true, the online polls and projections are not always accurate, a candidate might go in thinking they have a change to take the state.

also: i think gingrich and santorum can compete. Not too sure about Perry anymore though

If a few candidates drop, their supporters will not necessarily flock to the other not-romneys. Their supporters could jump to the winning horse (Romney in this case) or stop participating all together.

Primary season is brutal.
