Will McCain endorsement help Romney?

I think not. Nothing could more scream establishment insider moderate. A large percentage of Republicans came to greatly dislike McCain across the election season in 2008. It also invites the other Republican's to re-run McCain's old ads against Romney - particularly concerning Romney on video record saying he is unshakably committed to being "pro-choice."

It is the social and evangelical Republicans that so intensely oppose Romney. McCain's endorse adds proof positive that Romney is both a moderate and establishment insider.

The only reason I can think of McCain endorsing Romney is the fear of the social conservatives. The primary has come down to establishment Republicans versus social conservatives. Social conservatives DO hold grudges.
