I understand what your beliefs are... just not how you reached them. I'm only continuing the conversation to increase my own understanding, if you're willing.
Do you believe that this much power (to have the ability to legalize morality in such detail as you and Santorum suggest) can exist at the national level without someday, near or far, becoming supremely corrupt?
This is really a topic better reserved for a different thread, or a private discussion as it's not really related to the issue at hand; but I don't see ANY Political system that can exist within humanity without a significant potential for it to become corrupted. That's why there need to be some limits and requirements on any system; Democratic, Authoritarian, etc... to make it worthwhile.
