The media was relentless regarding Cain and his affairs. Why haven't they given the same attention to Gingrich for his? His were years ago, but so?

Because everyone already knows about Gingrich's affairs, Cain's were new, so they reported on it as much as they could.

Gingrich is not denying it so there's no need to speculate about he-said-she-said which always make a story more interesting. But it's early day yet for Gingrich, if his poll number stays above the others, he will receive more scrutiny, though it may not be about his affairs.

As pointed out before, Cain was denying all of this so of course that is going to attract media attention because of it being a scandal. Wars, Sex, and scandals are the medias biggest sellers.

I don't think the media will go after Gingrich much because a lot of his indiscresions are already known and he admits to them, but I expect fully the Dems will go after him via political ads if he is given the nomination.

With the GOP frontrunners though, I think the GOP is snatching defeat from victory.

Prediction: Obama for 4 more years.
Thank the GOP for putting up such "high quality" candidates.

Everyone already knows what Gingrich did and his marital issues and infidelity. Hes already admitted to it all... no story there. When it all first came out, it was all over the news. Cain's is just now coming out and therefore new news.

Gingrich's "infidelity" is the story - if he were to get the presidential nomination after the GOP Convention, just how are the social conservatives, "family values" advocates and Christian Right going to rationalize their support of a candidate who has repeated "cheated" on his spouse?

Without their support, Gingrich will be "toast" in the 2012 General Election - and the Republican "establishment" know it!

I suspect the Karl Rove "types" in the party are already working overtime thinking of "creative" ways to derail Gingrich's campaign before they run the risk of allowing him to siphon off too much support in next month's primaries.

a gingrich nomination would be a gift to the democrats

they undoubtedly have reams of material to fire at gingrich. the dislike by other republicans who personally know him is almost palpable

I would agree. Although I think that most of Gingrich's problem in winning the presidential run will be just the fact that he "IS" what most folks nowadays are railing against... he is a washington insider. He is the system, and I think he will lose just based on that, nevermind the "family values" aspect of it. But I think youre right, they will find a way to derail him, his own party doesnt want him to be the frontrunner.

Why don't you go ahead and lay it all out for us? Seems like you are all excited about his past issues like it really makes a difference. Newt admits having issues, others act like they are lilly white.
