Perry hits Obama for war on faith, despite a ghost of 'holiday season' past

As a person from Texas, I can tell you that Rick Perry is as Christ-like as my dog, Rupert. Rick Perry does what he needs to do to win, period.

I don't know. Dogs can be pretty Christ Like. Who is as forgiving as a dog? Who else gives unconditional love like a dog?

Dogs may be more Christian than people, and they can't even read the Bible!

I am a Christian, and I am not impressed with Perry. I find him milking his faith to be distasteful and unChristlike. It's a desperate attempt to gain support, and he should be ashamed of himself.

Check out Colbert's take on Strong. As usual he got it right.

Unfortunately, Perry is typical of many politicians today -- willing to do anything in a desperate attempt to win.

Similar: Barack Obama's killing of Plan B over the counter. Nonsense

Brother, hear are some commandments from God that most conservatives have built their campaign against.

Luke 12:33. "Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves purses which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near, nor moth destroys."

Luke 3:11. And [John the Baptist] would answer and say to them, "Let the man with two tunics share with him who has none, and let him who has food do likewise."

Mt. 5:42. Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.

Deut. 15:7. If there is a poor man among you, one of your brothers, in any of the towns of the land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand to your poor brother; but you shall freely open your hand to him, and generously lend him sufficient for his need in whatever he lacks.

Deut. 26:12. When you have finished paying the complete tithe of your increase in the third year, the year of tithing, then you shall give it to the Levite, to the stranger, to the orphan and the widow, that they may eat in your towns, and be satisfied.

Lev. 19:19ff. Now when you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap to the very corners of your field, neither shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest. Nor shall you glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather the fallen fruit of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the needy and for the stranger. I am the LORD your God.

Now if you speak these words in any tea party or republican environment, you better start running for the car and floor it. This is why I caution Christian conservatives to stop questioning people's faith because they are just as bad as anyone else.

If you don't believe me then name one scripture from above that today conservatives value???

Don't worry I'll wait.:coffeepap

Personal charity donations =/= forced redistribution of wealth.

None of those quotes have anything to do with the views of any political party.

In fact, if you want to accuse someone of going against those stated values, you'd be much more accurate pointing at Obama, whose "Buffet Plan" involved taking away tax exemptions for charity donations.

Yeah, because the best thing for a flaming liberal/socialist/Communist (remember, they all hate religions and holidays and Jesus) to pretend to be to his constituents is a Christian.

I'm no conspiracy theorist, but I highly doubt Obama has any religious beliefs outside of "whatever is politically convenient".

Mind you, he wouldn't be the first President.

It's not conspiracy theory in that there is no conspiracy. However it fits in the same realm as conspiracy theories in that it is based on a total absence of facts and is based on what those espousing the theory wish to be true. It's right up there with "Dick Cheney is an alien working to destroy the world". It could be true, but it's pretty unlikely.

He joined his church when it was politically convenient (and the church itself was more of a Jeremiah-Wright hate-fest than a place of worship). Then he left his church when it was politically convenient.

I'm not saying I care. I don't. I'm not Christian either. In fact, I really hope Obama's religious beliefs are politically motivated, because the alternative is that he was actually moved by the rantings of Rev. Wright.

You realize this has jack **** to do with whether he is a christian or not, right?

You cared enough to make the insinuation with absolutely zero evidence that it might be true.

Anything anyone can say to Obama to rattle him is fine with me. I still think his (so called) Christianity is fabricated. And no, I'm not a birther.

What about you? Is your Christianity 'fabricated'?

Rick Perry's "Strong" ad is officially now one of the most disliked youtube videos. It is a good to see so many people reject these whacked out religious conservatives.

Here is a nice parody of the ad. Irony is how Rick Perry dons the jacket from Brokeback Mountain while he blast gays....lol....****ing pricless.

And like most conservatives you've seen what, maybe a minute and a half of video cherry picked from Jeremiah Wright's 30+ years of sermons?

Read: I'll hold on to my money and give it away as I see fit... My houseboat dealer for example. He has mouths to fee. And those good people down at Best Buy, they look hungry.

You and Sean Hannity, the great mind readers...:roll:

Blacks can only worship African gods, right?

Brilliant!!

Run it in the states before each Primary.

You really shouldn't judge another person's religious beliefs. The fact that anybody knows Rev. Wright says something about the man's popularity. Obviously, he has something to say that resonates with some people. There are many conservative preachers with huge churches that say hateful things about homosexuals. Michele Bachmann, for one, and by all appearances, Rick Perry (though as you think of Obama's religion, I think much the same of Perry's) What do you think of people who go to those churches?

Rick Perry...Texas conservatives must be beaming with pride. :2funny:

It is so much easier that way. You don't have to think or consider or bother with any true neuance or thought at all.

So true. One time, out of curiousity, I searched for Rev. Wright on Youtube and found about a dozen videos NOT including the clips that Fox ran incessantly. I'm Jewish, and not religious at that, but from what I could tell they were standard issue Christian sermons. If there was anything like a main theme I would say it was personal responsiblity.

Funny, but unnecessary overkill. Perry's original ad is better than any attack ad by the Democrats. I hope they air it as often and widely as possible!!!

It was just a youtube parody by the Comedycouple, who usually do film reviews from their bed.

As Youtube parodies go, I thought it was pretty inspired. Especially the line about stopping Obama's war on Time Travel.

I know. I've looked before. Some students have even used his explination of his comments in class. But, as we know, that doesn't really matter. Sadly. :coffeepap

The real irony is that Wright's inflammatory comments are similar to Ron Paul's platform; you run around sticking your nose in other people's business, don't be surprised when they haul off and hit you on the nose.
