Romney declines 1 on 1 with Gingrich

was this a smart move on Romney's part?

Some would say that Romney needs to draw some of Newt's supporters to win the nomination, so was this the chance to do it?

Romney had no choice. Had he chosen to debate Newt, he would have branded as the flip-flopper in chief. LOL.

Yea I think Romney is the chosen one; he has already been selected.

He should just send a cardboard cut out of himself to the rest of the debates. With a tape recording, "I'll give the remainder my time to Babs."

I see the GOP candidates distancing themselves from Newt.

Personally, I think the stench of Newt being a pure ****-up still remains in the nostrils of too many Americans for him to ever get elected. Anyone over 40 probably remembers what a real turd he is.

I respect Mitt Romney. If he were my president, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. It does kind of bother me that he flip-flops even more than John Kerry. (John Kerry flip-flopped when flip-floppin' wasn't cool.) But let's get real. Nobody is going to be perfect.

I know for sure that if Ron Paul got the nod, I would have one of his bumper stickers on my car by morning time. That is the ONLY GOP candidate I would bother to vote for and I would do so gladly.

I suppose the best we can hope for is a new congress that will be willing to bust the log jam and work with Obama because it looks like he will be our prez for years to come.

Sure wish folks could get into Ron Paul. :(

If Ron Paul won the nomination, he would be the most politically extreme candidate to win a major party's nomination in at least 70 years. He's a frightening man, who fortunately has no chance of winning the nomination, much less the election. Ron Paul's far-right economic agenda would absolutely devastate our economy. Just the cuts he's proposed to the federal government would immediately shrink GDP by 7.5%, and that's not even counting the aftershocks associated with that many people being laid off. And let's not even get into what his contractionary monetary policies would do.
