Re: Cain says he expects fresh accusation

i dont get it really. if it was me and i did have an affair with a presidential candidate i would be going to them first telling them what bank in the camons to deposit money in.

what does she get out of doing this. if she fooled around with him for 13 years she must have some kind of feelings for him.

she must be planning on a book of her own, thats all i can come up with!

Here's the difference between you and me. I bashed Clinton over the same thing. I was calling for his resignation long before Monicagate. You were all over Clinton, but give Cain a pass for doing the same. Could it be because one is a Democrat and the other is a Republican? I think so. I believe that if a candidate, or a president for that matter, can't keep it in his pants, he doesn't deserve the job, regardless of party affiliation.

Which is the opposite of me, who didn't give a damn during Clinton's, and still doesn't give a damn during Cain's (or Tiger Wood's for that matter).

I only care if they are sitting high and mighty on a toadstool preaching down about the greatness of some morality.

I strongly disagree. The president represents the US to the entire world, so we cannot have a hypocrite and a liar in that position. Clinton clearly dishonored his office.

IMHO it was the witch hunt Congress performed that embarrassed us.

You show me a person who hasn't been hypocritical or a liar and I'll agree. The problem I find is, the people who do not appear to be hypocrites and liars are just the best at it. And personally, for me, the thing I care least about is someone's sex life.

*Edit:

Though my point in general was pointing out that we are at least both consistent in each case - which is all that really matters.

Look on the bright side! Cain's book sales will go up and everyone has a happy ending, except possibly his wife and family and all the women he has sexually harassed. But for him and us, he makes more money and we don't get stuck with him as president. Its a win/win situation!!!

Re: Cain says he expects fresh accusation

In a statement to WAGA, Cain attorney Lin Wood said reporters had no business asking about the allegation.
"This is not an accusation of harassment in the workplace -- this is not an accusation of an assault -- which are subject matters of legitimate inquiry to a political candidate," he said. "Rather, this appears to be an accusation of private, alleged consensual conduct between adults -- a subject matter which is not a proper subject of inquiry by the media or the public.
"No individual, whether a private citizen, a candidate for public office or a public official, should be questioned about his or her private sexual life," Wood said. "The public's right to know and the media's right to report has boundaries and most certainly those boundaries end outside of one's bedroom door."

I am no fan of Cain yet this statement by Wood ... is exactly right on.

Excuse me, but with Clinton it was proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Wonderful of you to call Clinton on what was undeniable. Cain has had unsubstantiated allegation (so far) made against him; and as you can see the others faded away. Why? Because they were full of ****.

Re: Cain says he expects fresh accusation

To be fair, from my understanding the ones with Clinton prior to Monica weren't proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. They were allegations and circumstantial evidence, similar to Cain's, but nothing "proven". Very similar to Cain. As Dana noted, he apparently was bad mouthing Clinton before the Monica situation even began.

If all of these charges are true, I am quite sure his wife has found her own peace already. no pun intended

Unfortunately Cain does not have the luxury of falling back on the "it's none of your business" defense, because he has made the "sanctity of marriage" one of his campaign issues. Live by the sword, die by the sword (pun intended).

Unfortunately, a majority of Americans don't agree with you. (Us.)

I look at it as an issue of character...and self-control. I see it as being corrupted by one's power. Look at Gary Hart, as an example. Guy had it all...couldn't keep it in his pants. It's not a partisan issue, though. It strikes at the very core of our political system...it's so commonplace as to be a nonissue today. What a shame.
