Allegations that Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain sexually harassed women in the 1990s have begun to damage his bid for the White House, a Reuters/Ipsos poll found. The poll showed the percentage of Republicans who view Cain favorably dropped 9 percentage points, to 57 percent from 66 percent a week ago.
Among all registered voters, Cain's favorability declined 5 percentage points, to 32 percent from 37 percent.

Doesn't surprise me.

However this election is going to be about the economy and now about whether Cain harrased anyone 20 years ago.

And the people who say these allegations have surfaced because Cain is black are as foolish as they come.

I dont think it was because he was black. The allegations DID accomplish their objective by slowing down his momentum. Interesting to see which camp really dropped the dime.

I do think it is interesting that we have gone full circle with the story. The woman wanted to tell her story when she couldnt...want to clear her 'name' although no one knew hew name, and as per the reports yesterday, the restaurant association agreed to waive her confidentiality statement and suddenly she just wants to let it be.

Could be his numbers dropped because he didnt know china has had nuclear capability since 1964, thats more important to me than the sexual harrassment...the fact that cain doesnt know the answer to almost anything hes asked in interviews and the answers he does give most of the time are ridiculously amateurish and childish....he is absolutely not ready to be president even if his skin color was bright torquoise

The GOP is deathly afraid of Cain getting the momentum and have gone into hyper mode to prevent Cain from getting the nomination. The GOP power machine knows full well that the only candidate that has a shot at winning in the GE is Romney and they will attack everyone else to make sure that Romney gets the nod.

I hope and pray that the people of the GOP see through the establishment charade and nominate Cain.

Of course, it COULD be that he gave a crrect answer...that China is looking to build nuclear NAVAL capabilities (which would be...Oh...I dont know...'logical' and 'topical' since it has been a present and pressing issue)...and those that heard what they wanted to hear made it mean ALL nuclear capabilites.

Im NOT a Cain supporter and still have yet to see a dem or GOP candidate worthy of ANYONES vote...but its just plain silly to dismiss the last week and sex harassment stories.

That's a nice thought you had there. Glad to know you have the interests of the GOP at heart.

exactly. how much do you think cain gave her?

Actually, could Cain really not be a serious candidate? I know there is another thread about him being a joke but in review of his actions and reactions there is something that just doesn't add up.

He does supply a nice distraction for Romney. There is very little attacks on Romney now. Cain is taking the full blunt of attacks. Romney can sit and rest until the primaries. Cain will take the attacks and also be able to attack Obama without the Dems yelling racist attacks.

I wouldn't put anything above politicians.

I DON'T have the interests of the GOP at heart....that is exactly why I hope and pray every day that they nominate Cain and that the GOP powers that be are unsuccessful in pushing Romney as their nominee.

Looks like you certainly have your opinions, whether substantiated or not. But that's actually irrelevant, because as a liberal you'll be voting for Obama anyhow.

Could it be that despite having ten days notice, he demonstrated his disdain of the voters by not preparing any defence, expecting to be able to handwave it away?
