Cain: For the poor, it's '9-0-9'

Which righties have been complaining about poor people not paying taxes? I know I never have and I'm quite sure I speak for 99% of the Conservatives in this forum.

His 9-0-9 plan does tax the poor though...

Which will of course result in less tax on the low end (due to 9-0-9) and the high end (due to tax-free investment income) and the burden of tax right on the middle. But... that's bound to happen anyway. What's more interesting is that he is already making his simple tax plan more complex. Now he just needs to add some deductions for people with kids or whatever and maybe add some credits and OH GOD I'LL HAVE TO LEARN A COMPLEX TAX SYSTEM ALL OVER AGAIN!

(Okay, we're not there yet, but he's on the way...)

You're going to oppose everything Herman Cain suggests, because he's a black Conservative. ;)

first he rips off sim city.

now, a Beatles song.

Cain’s new 9-0-9 plan would still raise taxes on the poor, analysts say

Not sure how the poor would pay more under this as payroll taxes they pay is about this rate and starts at dollar one.

That being said perhaps we can agree that Cain has put something on the table that at least starts to address the problem our our current lousy tax system. Maybe we should be looking at this as a first proposal that can be and will be revised over time. For example what if there was a second rate for people making over $1 million a year at 25%.

Most people know that the current system is broken, but instead of an adult conversation about the strengths and weaknesses of the plan with a view of how to make it better, people only want to make political points. That is why nothing of meaning can happen to improve where we are now, sad really.

But the earned income credit offsets payroll taxes for many poor, which is probably what they're looking at. (I'm not a fan of EIC so won't shed a tear if someone does do way with it. I wouldn't mind seeing it eliminated in a trade though, use it as a political tool. Get rid of EIC while establishing single payer healthcare or ... something like that.)

I think $9.99 is cute and catchy and its what we all need here in America....something cute and catchy.

What does single payer healthcare have to do with it?

Nothing. But in the current political climate it probably makes sense to trade something for something. One sides wants EIC eliminated more so than the other. They can use that as a tool to ask for something they want. Everyone is happy. Or, everyone is unhappy. One of them anyway.

Oh, is that why we voted for Sarah Palin, I mean McCain?:lamo

Hasn't enough time been wasted on government micromanaged healthcare, which has done nothing to right the economy?

Eh, this is better:

If you are at or below poverty level I am perfectly OK with you not paying income tax since you barely have enough to live anyway. Interesting though how libs are bashing Caine for this, if he taxed poor they'd bash him if he doesn't they bash him. Maybe they just hate Caine because hes a black man, no white in him whatsoever. If you don't like Caine you are racist. HA, now it's our turn.

It's cause Liberals are racist. They hate black people. That's go to be it. They just can't bring themselves to vote for a black person... oh wait.

They only vote for blacks who have not escaped from the plantation.

All black people will eventually vote for him cause of his color like with Obama. But Obama is half white, so Cain is destined to win them over eventually, right?

So the white people who got Obama elected were enlightened in 2008, but they are racist haters now?

I just saw a news article that said something like, Study finds Cain's Tax Plan would be a Tax Increase on 82% of Americans.

I guess Cain must finally got the news he was peddling a tax increase, and decided he had to switch gears.

This is exactly why the flat tax/fair tax is a bad idea. I was shocked to see Huckabee peddling it daily on his show and his entire audience eating it up.
