the intellectuals of Italy during the Renaissance. That is correct, the REAL Illuminati began in Italy during the 15th through 17th centuries A.D.
I am reffering to the factual real life Illuminati and not one of the unbelievable legends that have accompanied the Organization over the years.

The FACTUAL Illuminati was started by the famous scientists you read about everyday in science and history. Scientists like Coprenicus and Galileo. But these scientists were murdered by the Church for revealing scientific truths. Religion has always persecuted science.

But in Rome around the 1500s, these men decided to fight back against the Church. Italy's most enlightened minds - physicists, mathematicians, astronomers, etc, began having secret meetings to share their concerns about the Church's inaccurate teachings.

The were scared that the Church's domination of what was 'true' threatened academic enlightenment around the world. They created a Circle of Intellectuals, calling themselves the Enlightened Ones, or the Illuminati, Europe's most learned minds dedicated to the quest for scientific truth.

But the Illuminati were ruthlessly hunted by the Catholic Church. And this is where the Illuminati secrecy begins.
Because they were hunted, their only way to survive was through rites of secrecy.

Word spread around Europe untill the Institution began having regular meetings in an ultrasecret lair they called the Church of Illumination located in Rome.

Many of the Illuminati wanted to combat the Church's tyranny with acts of violence but did not because of Pacifists leaders such as Galileo. Eventually the Inquisitions came around and the killing of Illuminati members increased. They were forced to flee Italy for places like France that were safehavens for all types of people being persecuted by the Church.

Here is wher the Illuminati began mixing with other groups fleeing the Catholic purges. Alchemists, Occultists, Mystics, Astrologers, and among them FREEMASONS (all were claimed Satanists by the Church) were introduced to Illuminati ideology. By mixing with these groups they began the Satanic Cult Illuminati which we see everywhere today.

The Illuminati inevitably grew to power and now hold an iron fist over world politics and royalty. From the Satanic Cult began bloodlines of royal decendency such as the Merovingians and the Rothschild as the most commonly known.
