Re: How do we fix education in this country?

The Democratic solution seems to just raise taxes to improve the teacher to student ratio, more books, etc. Well, the govt. already has enough of my money. When they stop wasting what they already have, then they can ask for more, if they'd even need it.
The Republicans seem to think the school administration and teachers are the primary culprit. They want to focus on increasing test scores, and not actually educating.
I say we start focusing on the parents. If you can't teach your kids respect, then don't send them to our public schools. It only takes one child to disrupt a classroom and inhibit the education of my child. If you can't control your kids and they misbehave on a consistent basis, then they get removed from the public school system and placed in another educational facility. And the tax-payer dollar should not be fitting the bill for the child's new education, you, the parent should.
I'm sick of seeing kids at school who have no interest in learning, but are only there because they have to be, harrassing, bullying, and being a general nuisance to both teachers and students.
I'm sick of seeing the double-standard in the inner-city schools. Where black teachers are allowed to yell and scream and hit students, while the white teachers can't do anything for discipline.
Think of what would happen in your public school in the suburbs, if one of the cafeteria ladies yells at your kid "you better sit your butt down, or I'm gonna knock your face off!" LOL! Yes, I really heard that.
