Perhaps, but so what? What's wrong with striving for that? If people and governments have a vision to work toward, they'll be more inspired to make the necessary changes. "Clean energy in 10 years" is simply a more inspiring goal than "Reducing foreign oil consumption from $700 billion to $400 billion in 10 years."
