My beef with the earlier Romney campaign was how they ran it - too dirty. It solidified an image of stoicness and coldness, rather than illuminate his rather friendly and down to earth character. He gained in popularity when he simply got his name out there and expressed himself. His attack ads recoiled on him IMO.

Ultimately, he had the wrong people running his campaign. That cost him the race. He should have won Florida and that would have changed everything.
Had he won Florida he probably wouldn't have had to, all of the campaigns recognized Florida was the game from the get go. He probably still wouldn't have won Florida, but he'd've done a lot better on the margins which would've meant a lot in some states and he probably could've won. Thank God for Charlie Crist!
