I believe Pickens, as rich as he already is, just wants to grab some of the taxpayer subsidies, but that Gore is at least sincere about making progress without trying to become a billionaire in the process.
Pickens does not need government handouts. He is already building a 4,000 Megawatt wind plant in the Texas panhandle. Even before that goes online, Texas is still the number one provider of wind power in the United States, and produces more power from wind than the next 14 states produce together. And what's wrong with Pickens making money? I thought that innovation was the American way.
