Dissent is only productive when it is pursued in the context of a useful conversation. This is not a segway into a useful conversation. It is a bunch of pointless tantrum throwing because their guy isn't in office so they are blindly flailing about spewing any insult they can in response. It's kind of funny to see adults behave after the fashion of spoiled 5 year olds who had their toy taken away. Well, it would be funny if it weren't so damned sad to see. |
What's the point in your so-called "productive" dissent when you've already negated it by saying that everybody who criticizes him is just bitter anyway? "Your tauntings are juvenile, but guess what, even if they weren't they would still be irrelevant because...you're jealous! Ha ha!" This is reflective of the behavior of a president whose administration has happily equated dissent with treason and has regularly cordoned off protesters where he never ever has to see or hear them (Free Speech Zones anyone?). Bush has behaved like this since week one in office when he refused to meet with any environmental group leaders, and continued that behavior until present day. Nobody has actually denied that naming the sewage plant is in itself juvenile, but your refusal to acknowlege that its very immaturity is an actual valid reflection of Bush, as well as your belief that your opinion is the only valid one, strikes many of us as all too familiar. Bush had his chance, countless times, to listen to constructive criticism, and after eight years of shielding himself from it and surrounding himself by yes-men instead, it's time to admit that insults, however, juvenile, are perfectly acceptable.
