| Re: Rookie salary cap for the NFL, good or bad? They're bad. The problem ultimately falls to the veterans not asking for their due. Every team owner intentionally falls several million under the salary cap - space that can be filled by giving proven veterans incentive to stay. It's the large first-rounder contracts that give the seasoned vets the leverage to ask for more money.
Proponents of salary caps for rookies hurt rookies directly, hurt veterans indirectly, and ultimately support the billionaire owners.
