I completely disagree.

If they felt they were not being taxed heavier out of envy, I think they would pay their tax bill gladly; Proudly showing up with a wheelbarrel full of money

Of course, this would also assume that we as a country started to reject classism, and hating on someone merely because they have money, or automatically assuming as a society that if you have some money you did something mean to get it.

I disagree. They can buy outside your jurisdiction.

The trick is to tax them fairly on their income, counting all income.

If they make their money under the umbrella of the U.S. economy, then the U.S. has a right to a slice for upkeep ,the logic is unassailable.
I don't hate rich people. What they choose to do with the money they have made or inherited is thier right, as it should be. But should they be allowed to duck out of paying more in taxes because they can afford the methods of reducing the amount of taxes they can pay? I agree with you that they should be taxed fairly on the income they recieve. But they currently are not. The loop holes in the tax code allow them to do this. The U.S. does have the right to its fair slice for upkeep. All I want to see is that they actually do it.

As far as buy outside of US Jurisdiction, the Tariff system has been in place for years. But businesses are slowly being bled dry by free trade agreements where the other parties are not living up to their side of the agreement. Job out-sourcing is and high corperate tax rates are causing companies to shift jobs to other countries which not only causes a loss of jobs in the U.S., but also takes the tax input with them.

I do not want any kind of wealth re-distribution program at all. The very idea goes against everything I believe in. A Flat tax (with no deductions or exemptions) would cause a flood of jobs and companies to move out of the U.S. in my opinion as would closing the corperate tax loops. The classism that you mentioned (IMHO) was started by people believing they are better than someone else based on education, financial status, political connection, or moral/ethical issues. There is no doubt that EVERYONE has believed themselves better than another based on any of these factors. The world will always have some form of classism. It's human nature and unavoidable because it is human nature. The real question is then, what is the BEST way to get everyone to pay a fair share? Should it be a set percentage, a consumer based tax system, or keep the same system? I don't think everyone will ever agree with one system. I believe that everyone should pay a fair share. Now all we have to do is come to an agreement on what the definition of "Fair share of taxes" is.
