Re: Is there a gay politics connection

I'd say the first half is definitely right. Out-of-closet gays are pretty much uniformly left-leaning, but I'm not convinced that in-closet gays lean right. It's clear that "flaming" gays are left because it's their own version of counter-culture, attempting to be anti-establishment because your standard "wholesome" American is right-leaning.

If there were closet rights, I'd suspect that it's because they're appalled that their own "kind" go to the lengths they do. I worked with a gay man that you never would've guessed from looking that he was gay. He was pretty right-leaning too. We knew he was gay, and if you asked him he'd tell you straight up. However, he dressed professionally at work and has pictures of himself dressing normally. He didn't talk with that "fag lithp" and didn't draw unnecessary attention to himself. He resented gay culture because it was everything he wasn't. And you couldn't ask for a nicer, more intelligent and well-spoken man.

I'd agree with your statement as a whole though. The "left gays" are the ones that warrant the negativity they do and drag down the bulk of them.
