Yeah, I got that. It's just that I didn't understand how that had anything to do with my question as to whether any civil liberties were granted (cringe -- it doesn't seem right to me that any person have the power to
grant civil liberties) without being fought for first.
College protests were sort of before my time or away from my geography.
