It is a shame that the morality coercers tend to totally ignore all issues about female welfare. They might come across as a tad more rational if they didn't.
I wonder if the secularisation thesis (normally used to suggest that religion is an inferior good and will disappear with scientific advancement) could be adapted to understand abortion opposition. For example, as a country grows more advanced (with therefore experiences increases in education and the celebration of basic human rights), does the opposition to abortion (ceteris paribus) tend to fall?
