I've read that they saw homosexuality as more a disease afflicting otherwise capable and productive aryans, rather then equivalent to jews or slavs who were utterly irredeemable. This position relegated homosexuals to "study" rather then extermination, in most instances.
Nazis pioneered the kind of aversion therapies which later became vogue throughout the West until the 70s...although maintain their popularity in some of the more barbaric American Christian "ex-gay" ministries.
