| How do we fix education in this country? I've been a teacher for 15 years now and it is a job that I really love. I've had the opportunity to do other things but I really like teaching. What I don't like is what has become of public school education. We've become to focused on test scores and are no longer teaching the children what they need to know to be successful in society. We're teaching the test. More and more parents see the schools as a glorified babysitting service. They don't want to be involved and could not care less what their kids do at school. Teachers no longer have the respect they once did. They seem to be the scapegoat for everything that is wrong when in reality most teachers work hard to do the best job they can for their students in difficult circumstances.
So how do we fix the problems? How do we make public schools the best source for knowledge a child can have. What do we do to be certain that all students are educated the best they can be?(That doesn't mean that every kid goes to college)
