So the question is, if liberals are starting to grasp that it is they themselves (the ones who say horribly racist things about Condi Rice and Clarence Thomas; the ones with a former Klansman still in office; the ones who perpetually race-bait the black community into a state of paranoid bigotry for personal gain) who are obssessed with race and who work against actual equality more than anyone, from both sides even, will this lead to a new era of conservatives not being smeared as bigots every time they resist the left's racist preferential treatments for blacks? Or does the left just not actually care about racism?
I am trying to make my way through the torturous logic here. First, we have this idea that since some members of the democratic paty are racist, this means the democratic party as a whole is racist. The flaw in that is obvious, and can even be expanded on by pointing out that the democratic party is the party where blacks, and most minorities, tend to find themsevles most welcome. Yes, you are right, there are racists in the democratic party...and the republican party, and the libertarian party, and pretty much all the rest. Because there are racists in the republican party, I could, using your logic, accuse the republican party of being bigots. I don't actually believe they are though, and don't feel the need to stoop to those type levels. I could further point out that if, since the fact there are racists within the democratic party, that makes the left bigots, then by that same logic, conservatives are bitches, since Ann Coulter is a conservative. Again, I don't actually believe that(despite the evidence), and feel that most republicans, like most democrats, want the best possible United States, we just differ on how to get there, and what the best possible United States is.

The good news is that the democratic party is coming to terms with the fact there are racists within the party. We are seeing both how far we have come(20 years ago, 20 % would have been unimaginably low in WV), and how far we have to go. We are disapointed with some of our own. We have, and will continue, to work for equality and equity. Let's contrast that to your reaction to the Wext virginia numbers, where instead of being disapointed that so many of your fellow citizens still have issues with race, you rush out and take great glee in making a liberal bashing, and liberal baiting post on a message board. Honestly, I hope your fellow conservatives take you to task for using something like in such a maner. Racism is an issue in this country, and while things are undoubetly much better than they where, there is still a long way to go, and I hope we can actually work with the right wing, and together eliminate something as shamefull as racism. I certainly think using it as a tool to get at your political oponents is just sad...very very sad.
