I'm in favor of mandating English as the official language of the U.S. as far as official or government communication goes. Requiring that all U.S. citizens can communicate is simply a practical requirement to improve our society. However, there is nothing wrong if Americans want to speak another language. Reciting the pledge of allegiance can be done in any language that the speaker feels like. You have the option to not recite the pledge at all if you wish.
