I think personal finance should be taught in high school...the first time I had to balance a check book or pay taxes was really terrifying. I still have to call my mom all the time when I get confused (she's a tax lawyer).
In response to ten's comment about car repair, although I don't drive a car I think that'd be really useful too, at least in most places in the country.
My school didn't have a shop class and it's something I really regret...particularly when I'm ****ing around with bike hubs or something mechanically complicated. A simple primer on tools would have been invaluable. |
