I respectfully disagree. I think this has more to do with gays believing they are still some continuously persecuted minority that stifles them every time they walk around the corner. There's nothing stopping gays from "hooking up" at Mardi Gras. There's no Christmas rule that says gays can't kiss under a mistletoe. There are probably even homosexual-themed Valentine's Day cards out there. Holidays are not inherently biased toward straight people. I think gays just want to believe that so badly that it gives them an excuse to come up with all this wild crap while preaching about the intolerance of everyone else out there.

Gays can make out in public. They can go shopping, to the park, to a movie, to dinner. If one is sick, the other can visit at a hospital. They can insure each other. They can do everything but get married in 49 states.
