Later on I discovered George Lynch and the Lynch Mob. Not a bad 80's guitar rock band if you ever get the time. By the time I was in middle school it became common to refer to any kind of beating as a lynching. If one of my friends was pwning me at Madden (video game football for all you geezers), I would find it totally appropriate for them to describe my total destruction as a lynching. I should also point out that I was regularly lynched at Mortal Kombat. Effing stupid Sub Zero.
Exactly. Particularly the bolded. I never would have associated "lynching" with any kind of racial thing if PC police hadn't thrown it in my face constantly and tried to make me.

Edit: Hell, until recently, when I saw people using a noose as a means to scare someone, I just thought of "hangings". And hangings were the government's way of killing "bad guys" for quite some time. That's all. Had jack all to do with race.

Still, when I think of lynching, when I have ALWAYS thought of lynching, it has not a god damned thing to do with race. It had to do with vigilantism. When I saw it enacted in TV shows, it was white folks getting lynched. When I've seen it in movies, it's a free for all - any and everyone gets lynched. When I've read about it in books, it's been both black and white victims.

It's only been the recent PC police and Al Sharpton's of the world today that have tried to make me see black if/when I see a noose, or hear the word 'lynch'. If people make a direct connection between the two, it's the fault of those groups, IMO.

Still think we should lynch the PC police.
