There have been calls in the German parliament for a ban on a far-right party that has been winning increased support in poorer parts of the east of the country. BBC NEWS | Programmes | Crossing Continents | Far right gains ground in Germany's east
Personally I think Germany, and Europe in general, has matured enough to be able to tolerate these kinds of political organizations. Banning or disenfranchising them only validates their messages.
Like most Americans who've spent time in Germany (across the American political spectrum) I think they're
bizzarely liberal there. It's
weird. One family I stayed with gave me a lecture about how I shouldn't pee standing up,
because it's sexist. I figured they were just weird...but no, disscussion with a variety of people confirmed that there is in fact a campaign to strongly discourage men from peeing while standing up. If a little fascism that never actual gains any real power could prevent
that kind of **** from happening, I'd be on board.
